1 | Temple of Guidance and sprinting

Dig sand and learn how floor switches and falling rocks work. When digging beneath a rock, leave an escape space to the side, and avoid standing on cracked floors for long.

  1. Dig toward the left in the first vertical shaft and check for a hidden Cog.
  2. Obtain Sprint Hydraulics. Reach the first Artifact through the dark floor near the pool on the right.
  3. Pass the timed door with a running jump and head to Guiding Light. Climb on top and attack while its shield is down.
  4. Return to West Desert from the room’s lower-right corner.

2 | Visit the mayor and Davy in El Machino

Climb the walls and platforms instead of using the broken lift to reach El Machino. Use the extra height of running jumps for large ledges.

  1. Speak to the mayor and check your mining objective.
  2. Show Davy the first Artifact to receive the Gaze of Odin blueprint.
  3. Enter Archaea using the ladder below the workbench.

3 | Sell resources and repair your lamp

Mine Trashium in shallow, well-lit areas and sell it in town. Do not head into deep darkness first; collect 6 and buy the Rock-Bottom Lamp.

  1. Gather resources in shallow areas. Avoid straight paths where enemies can charge at you.
  2. Sell resources to Barnacle and buy the lamp costing 6 at the workbench.
  3. Return to Coral and check the light ahead and the destination marker.

4 | Pressure Bomb and the first Pneumatic Tube

Dig sideways while keeping a return route, then head to Patch Wall Grotto and Burster’s Station. Repeatedly return to sell resources before your light or backpack capacity runs out.

  1. Collect the Artifact and Cog in Patch Wall Grotto.
  2. Obtain the Pressure Bomb from the device at the bottom of Burster’s Station.
  3. Enter water to replenish your bomb supply, then fire bombs at sand you cannot reach.
  4. Open the Pneumatic Tube ahead with a bomb to secure fast travel between town and the mine.

5 | Detour through Yarrow for the Jackhammer

After reporting to the mayor, dig deeper into Archaea. Open the Cactus Plantation and Above the Wall passages, then detour through Yarrow before the unbreakable wall and return on the Below the Wall side.

  1. Pass through places such as Cave-In Catacomb and open Pneumatic Tubes with bombs.
  2. Use Yarrow’s regenerating soil and bounce pads to return to lower Archaea.
  3. Drop the rock onto the switch in Mason’s Station to open the path.
  4. Obtain the Jackhammer farther inside. Break the bricks to the right outside and meet Josh Yonker.

6 | Descend to The Oasis

Ask the mayor about your next objective, then use the Jackhammer to enter the deep mine. Collect the initially reachable Artifact/Cog in Rupture Rock Hollow, and return for the unreachable Cog after obtaining flight.

  1. Head down from Below the Wall and open the route toward The Oasis.
  2. There is a Pneumatic Tube ahead after you fall down the deep shaft, so do not force your way back up the original cliff.
  3. Enter The Oasis and speak to Rosie.

7 | Hook Shot in Rosie’s Storage

Obtain the Hook Shot by reaching the device beneath the storage area. Grapple straight up onto the bridge; you can move between ceiling points except metal plates.

  1. Obtain the Hook Shot in Rosie’s Storage.
  2. Also check the Artifact on the hidden path to the right of the low bridge and the final Cog.
  3. Return to town and check your next objective.

8 | Through Windy Plains to the eastern temple

The wind blows west in Windy Plains, so avoid stopping near platform edges or cacti. At the water to the right of Rock Falls, use the Hook Shot upward before dropping the rock to obtain an Artifact.

  1. Head east through Windy Plains and open Temple Entrance.
  2. Enter Temple of the Destroyer and cross platforms and conveyor belts with the Hook Shot.
  3. Activate Pneumatic Tubes in places such as Conveyor Maze, Golem Altar and Hanging Lava Gardens.

9 | Great Prophet and Ignition Axe

Descend through the lava, explosive-barrel and caster areas, then enter Combuster’s Station from Temple Bowels. Move away after striking a barrel to avoid being knocked into a chain of falls by the blast.

  1. Dodge the Great Prophet’s fireballs and approach from the direction of the smoke after it warps.
  2. Arrange the platforms to prepare for the later 8-direction fireballs and turrets.
  3. Obtain the Ignition Axe from the device below after the fight.
  4. Use the flaming axe to move the robot and head to the exit.

10 | Stop the Device of Doom

Light 3 braziers in the large room in Temple Bowels. Move the robot to approach the upper-right brazier. Open the lower door with the switch and descend to the Device of Doom.

  1. Light the braziers in the room’s upper-left, left of the switch and upper-right.
  2. Open the door with the central switch and enter the device cave.
  3. Destroy the device with your pickaxe, then speak to Rosie in The Oasis.

11 | Escape Vectron and obtain the Jet Engine

Dig to the bottom of Archaea, open Lower Mining Outpost and Bottom of the Mine, and enter Mysterious Cave. In Vectron, guide spirits into TVs and robots to create passages.

  1. Before advancing, dig a small hiding hole and retreat into it after activating the required large robot.
  2. Do not activate optional alarms or wake robots by digging away the floor beneath them.
  3. During the final chase, escape past the water with running jumps.
  4. After returning to Mysterious Cave, obtain the Jet Engine from the upper device.
  5. Alternate flight and the Hook Shot, collect the upper-right Cog too, and head outside.

12 | Pickups on the return route and the 3-device objective

After obtaining the Jet Engine, you can return for things such as the upper Cog in Rupture Rock Hollow. Reporting to Rosie in The Oasis sets the remaining 3 devices in the western temple, Yarrow and eastern temple as your objectives.

  1. Combine flight refills with the Hook Shot on walls/ceilings.
  2. On returning to Rupture Rock Hollow, check the upper-left Cog.
  3. Return to Rosie and check the areas containing the remaining devices.

13 | Get the Long-Range Grappler first

This detour makes progression easier. Light the 3 braziers at Golem Altar, Conveyor Maze and above Temple Entrance, then use the switch on the Temple Bowels side to enter Ronald’s Treasure Chamber.

  1. Move the robot with the flaming axe and head to the brazier left of Golem Altar.
  2. Head to the brazier on the Conveyor Maze side.
  3. Head to the brazier at the door above Temple Entrance.
  4. Operate the left-side switch from Temple Bowels to enter the treasure chamber.
  5. Climb the torchless ceiling recess and collect the Long-Range Grappler and 3 Cogs.

14 | Device in the western Temple of Guidance

Head underground to the west from upper Yarrow. Complete Chamber of Secrets, Wheels and Arrows, then use each exit switch to open the passage toward the device.

  1. Navigate the Chamber of Secrets maze and switches 4 → 3 → 2 to obtain the Grenade Launcher.
  2. Position the carts on the floor switches in Chamber of Wheels.
  3. Advance through Chamber of Arrows while avoiding the 3-shot bursts and arrows in the circular room.
  4. Enter Device of Devastation through the opened passage and destroy the device.

15 | Lowest Yarrow and the Ramjet

Dig down from the bounce-pad area and advance through the acid and regenerating-soil region. Cross underwater areas such as Swim Swam Sway while keeping away from spiked walls.

  1. Activate Pneumatic Tubes as you descend to the lowest level.
  2. Obtain Ramjet Vigor from the lower device in Aeronaut’s Station.
  3. Break through soil by rising upward, then head toward Device of Disaster.
  4. Also check Birdie Num Num Seeds above-left of the device, then destroy the device.

16 | To the bottom of the eastern temple

Cross the large lava area east of Temple Bowels and descend from Basement Entrance. Link platforms using flight and the Hook Shot, and slow your descent along the walls in long shafts.

  1. In Infernal Crates, use the stop switches to move crates onto floor switches.
  2. Position the carts on the floor switches in Mine Cart Madness.
  3. Collect Ultra Composite Armor in The Sun Armory.
  4. Also check Cake and the INCREA Product Manual below Armory Entrance.
  5. Enter Device of Destruction and destroy the final device.

17 | The Reactor and the final battle

From Above the Acid Swamp in Yarrow, head east along the upper route, break the grating, pass through Sludge River Bend and return to The Oasis. Check available defence upgrades and Sky Assailant, then head to the Reactor east of town.

  1. Deflect large rockets with the Hook Shot or similar tools, then attack with the pickaxe while the shield is down.
  2. Dig the soil and bricks that appear to create places away from enemies, projectiles and acid.
  3. In the later phase too, avoid charging into small projectiles and wait for a chance to reflect a large rocket.
  4. After the fight, take Rusty back to the left, then proceed to the transfer to town and the ending.

18 | 42 Artifacts and the final trials

For full collection, returning after obtaining Air Cooling for flight, Sky Assailant for bombs and the Long-Range Grappler makes things easier. There are 42 standard Artifacts; the additional Proof of Completion is a separate reward after the Trials.

  1. Compare each region’s undiscovered percentage with the table of Artifact names.
  2. Show Davy all 42 to receive Sigillum Caelum et Infernum.
  3. Fly rightward above Windy Plains and open the floating-island door.
  4. Clear the 7 trials and collect Proof of Completion at the end.
