Illusion of Gaia(Super Famicom)
11 ruins: Mechanisms and unlock conditions
Actions when blocked by walls, floors, wind, slopes, keyholes, or form differences. Includes the Pyramid, where the form for a chest can differ from the form needed to advance.
Scope: Original Japanese Super Famicom version (1993) / Content checked: October 2, 2026
Underground waterway: Rusty switch and transformation
- Stop charging the rusty switch sideways and find high ground. Jump directly down onto it to open a hidden room.
- Use Laura's Melody where flowers bloom. For flute events, select the melody and use it with B.
- Transformation is available when statues stand on Dark Space's left and right. In the waterway, use Freedan's sword reach to advance.
- After Lily's room conversation, inspect the right side of the lowest barrel. Collect its jewel before leaving.
Inca: Statues, floor, and pillars
- Use the Diamond Block in the hole in the right-hand spiked area. After crossing, find the route descending between bridges.
- Pull statues toward the golden floor with L/R from sufficient distance. Account for their activation distance rather than standing in front of them indefinitely.
- Defeat golden-face enemies with Freedan's sword. Do not keep hitting them as Tem.
- Return to the golden floor as Tem and use the Wind Melody. Wait on the lit floor to open the route rather than walking off immediately.
- At the 2 face statues, use 1 Inca Statue on each. Stand and wait at the center of the 3 pillars to open the boss entrance.
Mine: Buried person, ranged technique, and two keys
- Press the 4 elevated switches and descend. Inspect the windy wall and use Tem's Psycho Dash to save the person giving 3 jewels.
- Take Dark Friar in Dark Space beyond another breakable wall farther in. Defeat distant enemies to remove the slope obstacle.
- After receiving the Lift Key, return to the upper boarding point. Continuing directly downward does not operate the lift.
- The two keyholes need separate keys. Check the prisoner on the right and the southeast of the corpse room on the left.
- After receiving the melody from the last prisoners, return to the inn. Do not move to the next garden without learning Dark Friar.
Sky Garden: Travel between front and reverse
- Check right, lower-right, lower-left, and left routes from the entrance. Record sectors where the 4 Crystal Balls were collected.
- Approach swordsman statues, break their swords, then pull them to floor switches with L/R. Do not keep taking attacks while trying to pull intact statues.
- After pressing a reverse-side switch, return to that sector's front to check changed obstacles.
- In the lower-left sector, first operate the distant switch as Freedan. Return to Tem and cross green statues using slope momentum and Psycho Dash.
- Change the floor state at the reverse-side statue, then return to the front and approach the chest from the slope. Check remaining sectors each time a ball is placed at the entrance.
Mu: Two water levels and low passages
- Open the first empty chest too. After the conversation, inspect where statues' gazes intersect for the Prayer Statue.
- Use the statue in the Prayer Room and descend to the middle passage. Inspect enemies and chests while learning Psycho Slider in Dark Space.
- Pull blue rings toward you with L/R and use their rebound to cross slopes. Some require another pull midway up a slope.
- Find the 2nd Prayer Statue to lower the water further. The first statue alone does not open every lower area.
- 2 Rama Statues are required. Use both at the altar, then handle the bomb's fuse after defeating the bosses.
Studio: Wind passage and 4 differences
| Trial | Compare | Check after acting |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Color of the isolated pot | Compare the 2 rooms before examining the different object. |
| 2 | Pot colors | The same position has a different color. Check by traveling between left and right rooms. |
| 3 | Chest contents | One side's chest contains an herb and jewel. Inspect both and collect them. |
| 4 | Wind blowing on Tem | Check whether his hair blows and select the difference in Tem himself. |
- Use torch flames as wind clues in the approach to the studio. Inspect between differently blowing torches and places along walls where wind sounds strengthen.
Great Wall: From spinning to ranged techniques
- After descending the first hole, you cannot leave the Great Wall until learning Spin Dash. Inspect the preceding chest first.
- Attack the switch beyond the stairs. Enter the slope running from the far left and use momentum to cross the obstacle.
- In the sector with 3 staircases, enter the hole slightly right of center. Learn Spin Dash in Dark Space beyond the underground hole.
- Return to the previous sector, spin left across the obstacle, and transform into Freedan along that route.
- Defeat archers with Dark Friar and pull clay statues to advance. Finally return to Tem and spin across the surface obstacle.
Mountain Sanctuary: Repairing stems and returning
- Proceed as Tem and take Mushroom Drops. Use them before severed stems to reach new platforms.
- Many platforms look alike; distinguish treated stems from untreated ones. Merely collecting drops does not change the route.
- Learn Freedan's Aura Barrier in Dark Space. Take the long detour from above to the launch pad.
- Jump left from the launch pad to reach below the platform with the Teapot chest, then climb to collect it.
- Use Tem's Spin Dash across return slopes. Use the Teapot before Neil's mother in Euro.
Angkor Wat: Earthquake, glasses, and floor holes
- Use Tem on outer slopes and Freedan for combat from the courtyard onward. Learn Earthquaker in the inner Dark Space.
- Before stone enemies spin their arms, jump from a nearby ledge and press A. If you stop them while invulnerable during spinning, leave and retry.
- After entering the main temple, exit east to the approach. Find Dark Crystal Glasses on glowing ground near where plant enemies stood.
- Select the glasses on bright floor 2. The right hole descends to floor 1's Dark Space; the left to floor 1's chest.
- Collect the floor-4 chest too, then reach the top. Use the Gorgon Flower on the village's 3 stone girls and speak to them afterward.
Pyramid: Forms and tablets in 6 rooms
| Rooms counted from the left | Form to choose first | Conditions/pickups along the way |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Tem | Use Spin Dash from atop the small slope to cross the large slope. |
| 2 | Shadow | Use Aura before the sphinx painting to reach the tablet floor. Check the jewel chest too. |
| 3 | Jewel: Tem / tablet: Freedan or Shadow | Move passages with floor switches. After taking the jewel, return to the entrance to transform. |
| 4 | Tem | Spin across slopes. Open the jewel chest before heading for the tablet. |
| 5 | Jewel: Shadow | Pass through the floor en route for the jewel. Explore farther for the tablet. |
| 6 | Explore using a form that can advance | Inspect the stairs where the mummy stands and continue. |
- Room numbers are this site's organizational labels counted from the entrance's left. Place tablets in order from the left starting with room 1's item. Collect the hidden surface-right jewel separately from these 6 rooms.
Babel: Before and after the barrier/rematches
- Take the entrance altar's jewel. At the barrier, select the Crystal Ring to proceed.
- Save in the first Dark Space and rematch 5 previous boss types. Forms differ, so do not reuse the ordinary fights' earthquake tactic unchanged.
- If Pharos remains split, attack the fragments to reveal the main body. Select and use Shadow's Aura when danger arises.
- Return to Dao from Dark Space after the consecutive battles. Finish healing, jeweler rewards, and hidden-mansion preparation before the final battle.
