A reference-cross-checked guide to 10 story chapters, difficult layouts, and secrets · Updated 2026-10-14

Check separately that you read the clue, formed the map shape, and collected the item on-site. A changed map does not necessarily put an item into your inventory automatically; continue until you walk back to collect it.

PC story, Chapters 4–6. Supplements map-layout conditions and on-site collection. This pass excludes all Chapter 9 sliding-input sequences, successful final-map operation on every version, and verification of every book's official title. Chapter 4: Create the estuary and walk to collect Whisper Grass

  1. After speaking to Mo, hear the plant clues from the teacher and 3 children. Look for the river outlet for Whisper Grass.
  2. Find the bridge piece with the continuing river and the sea-only piece. Leave 1 empty sector between them rather than placing the sea directly beside the river.
  3. When the estuary piece appears in the gap, connect walkable edges too. Distinguish revealing the piece from collecting its item.
  4. Walk beyond the estuary's land and collect Whisper Grass. It is obtainable from either riverbank, so go around to the walkable side.

Chapter 4: Gather yellow leaves in the center for Slumber Stalk

  1. Find the 3 yellow-leaf pieces on the map. Identify them by leaf landmarks rather than curved-path pieces.
  2. Arrange the 3 into a square missing 1 sector. Rotate each so its yellow leaves face the overall center.
  3. Confirm the center-facing layout reveals the missing piece. Matching terrain edges alone does not guarantee matching leaf directions.
  4. Walk to the center on-site and collect Slumber Stalk between the 4 leaf clusters.

Chapter 4: Form a curved-path loop for Dozing Daisies

  1. Find the 3 curved-path pieces. The teacher-and-children piece also participates in this combination.
  2. Rotate them into a circular path missing only 1 sector. Check edges so each path end continues onto its neighbor.
  3. When the 4th piece appears in the gap, walk to the loop on-site and collect Dozing Daisies.
  4. After gathering all three plants, return to Mo. Do not stop after speaking 1 time; continue the conversations that hand over each plant.

Chapter 5: Check each footprint exit on-site before rotating the next piece

  1. Read the half-buried sign near the safe for the instruction to follow footprints. Distinguish the earlier westward movement method from the subsequent footprint route.
  2. Return to the yellow-sand piece and check which edge the on-site footprints lead toward. Footprints cannot be checked from the map artwork alone.
  3. Place the next yellow-sand piece at the footprint exit. Rotate it until both sets of tracks form 1 continuous path.
  4. Walk across and check the next exit's tracks. Move the now-unneeded sand piece behind you to that exit and continue.
  5. Collect new paper when you reach it and speak to the expedition. Do not treat the entire desert route as one straight westward path.
