ABOUT

What is TUNIC?

Control a small fox, collect weapons and manual pages, and unravel the island's workings in this exploration action game. Follow procedures for the east/west bells, 3 keys and subsequent progression. Checklists cover 28 manual sheets, 20 fairies and 12 secret treasures, with equipment/cards, 6 bosses and the Cathedral trial organized by stage.

ℹ️ Information organized from reference material Steam store page →

Scope: Basic progression for Steam App 553420, including assistance settings added in the official 2022-09-27 update. Checked: 2026-10-02 UTC. This is not a single list of current build numbers across every platform.

Later progression appears when you choose "Expand to read," and puzzle inputs require the additional "View answer" choice. Search alone does not open closed answers. Chapter links open the chapter you select.

5 useful early actions

  1. Rest at a nearby shrine first to establish a restart point. HP and potions recover, but ordinary enemies respawn too.
  2. Lock on to face the enemy and counter briefly after its attack ends. Do not always force the third hit of your combo.
  3. Blocking with the shield consumes stamina. Lower it when you want stamina to recover.
  4. Hold dodge while moving to run. Distinguish this from standing still and holding it to pray.
  5. Open the inventory beside a shrine and use offerings such as teeth or flowers to upgrade stats. Rest alone does not upgrade them.

FAQ

TUNIC FAQ

Q1 Where should I go first? ▼
A

Take the Stick from the small starting room and use the initial key to go east. Obtain the Sword at the Hero's Grave in the East Forest, then head to the East Belltower. Plan the achievement for obtaining the Gun before the Sword separately from normal progression.

Q2 Do I need to translate every manual character? ▼
A

Normal progression is possible through pictures, locations, buttons and connected lines. Distinguish the manual-collection ending conditions from advanced puzzles involving text or sound decoding.

Q3 Resting at a shrine does not raise my stats ▼
A

Resting and upgrading are separate actions. Open the inventory beside a shrine, select the stat corresponding to an offering at the lower right and pay money.

Q4 Can I make only the combat easier? ▼
A

Choose Reduced Combat Difficulty, No Fail Mode or No Stamina Restrictions in settings. Audio Puzzle Assistance is also available for sound puzzles. Later input assistance appears only after progressing.

Q5 Has the Switch 2 update been released? ▼
A

Finji's March 27, 2026 announcement said an update was in development. The material checked here does not establish a release date or version number, so the guide does not present its specifications as already released.
