Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together(Super Famicom)
Full walkthrough
From Chapter 1 through each L/C/N route, Chapter 4 rescues, and the final battle. Covers progression in the original Japanese SFC version and checks before moving on.
Scope: Original Japanese Super Famicom version (released 1995-10-06). Based on analysis of the later ver. 1.2; guides for the PSP remake Let Us Cling Together and Reborn are outside the scope. Checked 2026-10-02. / Content checked: October 2, 2026
Check 4 things before deploying
- Read the victory condition, enemy leader's position, and rescue target's HP and facing. Distinguish defeating all enemies from defeating the leader.
- Give everyone healing items, and equip resurrection and exorcism spellbooks on appropriate classes. A spellbook cannot be used merely by owning it.
- Make a normal save on the regional map before rescues or consecutive battles. Suspend saves disappear when resumed, so do not use them to preserve branches.
Chapter 1: Golyat to Almorica Castle
- Answer the opening questions, choose a patron deity, and proceed through Golyat's conversation. At the first Almorica Castle battle, the Knights of Zenobia accompany you; support them instead of sending Denim into an enemy encirclement.
- Fight outside the gates and then inside the castle consecutively. After the interior battle, the initial generic soldiers join and formation, shops, and training become available on the regional map.
- Distribute bows and healing items before the next destination, Tynemouth. If deployed soldiers have widely differing levels, bring them closer through training rather than raising only 1 unit far above the others.
Chapter 1: Tynemouth Hill
- Canopus appears as a guest. Win with him alive to recruit him permanently; deliver healing if he loses HP somewhere your allies cannot easily reach.
- Check the elevated positions on both sides and bow ranges before moving the whole group down into the low center. Do not group low-HP soldiers within leader Orba's spell area.
- Use the recruited Canopus for flying rescues. Give him healing items too before proceeding to Krysaro.
Chapter 1: Krysaro to Qadriga Fortress
- Fight Nybbas while protecting Presance at Krysaro. Undead revive after time passes if you only reduce their HP to 0, so exorcise them with Exorcism before advancing.
- Presance joins if he survives. If he dies, Felicia joins instead, so do not plan to recruit both together. Voltare and Sara also join here.
- After saving Presance, choosing to pursue Nybbas allows a visit to Qadriga Fortress. The fortress mixes enemy bows, magic, and undead; keep healers behind the front line and deal with the undead after waiting for exorcism MP.
Chapter 1: Golborza to Rime
- Proceed from Golborza Plain to the old city of Rime. Sisteena is near the enemy there, so send a flying ally such as Canopus ahead into healing-item range.
- Eliminate the enemies attacking Sisteena first and win with her alive. This rescue alone does not recruit her permanently; Chapter 2C's rescues and conversations are further requirements.
- If she dies before you can rescue her, that result carries into later chapters. Connect the Chapter 1 rescue to permanent recruitment in Chapter 2. Keep a prebattle normal save in another slot if attempting the rescue.
Chapter 1: Lake Bordu to Balmamusa
- Travel through Lake Bordu and Zodo Marsh to Balmamusa. In the marsh, check destination terrain, create positions within bow or spell range, and avoid concentrating attacks on 1 front-line unit.
- After the first battle at Balmamusa, your response to Leonard's order determines the Chapter 2 route. A normal save before entering provides a starting point for seeing another story.
- Accept the order with “...I understand” for L, or refuse with “Stop this madness!” for C. N cannot be selected directly here.
Chapter 2L: Balmamusa to Zapan's rescue
- Proceed from Balmamusa through Zodo Marsh to the port of Ashton. Against Aloser, keep the back line away from elevated archers and move front-line units carrying healing items together with flying units.
- Zapan fights as a guest at Qadriga Fortress. Send a flying ally carrying healing items ahead and defeat the leader while supporting Zapan, who advances toward enemies.
- Accept Zapan after rescuing him to recruit him. If you rescued him but refused recruitment in Chapter 2, you can meet him again at Golyat in Chapter 4, carrying Prox. Decide whether you want his strength early or the equipment later.
Chapter 2L: Tynemouth to Almorica
- Proceed through Tynemouth Hill, Golborza Plain, and Rime in that order. Rime's elevated archers can hit you; approach using cover and avoid advancing archers and healers together.
- Prepare for the Almorica Castle gates, interior, and Leonard battle. Restore Denim's HP before the later consecutive fights, and bring bows and healing items as well as melee attacks.
- This leads to Chapter 3L. You cannot switch to N by looking for Chapter 2C's reconciliation scene; prepare instead for L-exclusive Vice and Junoun conditions.
Chapter 2C: Ashton to Tynemouth
- Travel from the port of Ashton through Zodo Marsh and Lake Bordu to Tynemouth. Do not count the enemy Aloser at Ashton as a recruited ally.
- Aloser fights as a guest at Tynemouth. Clear the battle with her alive to recruit her permanently. Support her within healing range rather than splitting up in different directions from the beasts.
- Even after recruitment, Aloser always leaves if you choose N at the chapter's end. Choose C at the next route decision if you want to keep using her.
Chapter 2C: From Byan to Sisteena
- Travel through Krysaro to Qadriga Fortress. Byan is close to enemies and vulnerable; hurry healers and flying units toward him and hold his attackers with sleep, paralysis, or similar effects.
- Save Byan, accept the request to rescue Sisteena, and proceed to Damsa Fortress. The Chapter 1 Rime rescue is also required, so a save starting near the chapter's end may not meet every condition.
- Keep Folcurt, Byan, and Sisteena alive through the events at the port of Golyat and Boed Fortress. Choose the conversation requesting their company to recruit all 3 permanently. Alternative conditions when someone dies are outside this list's scope.
Chapter 2C: Rime to the N/C branch
- Pass through Rime and Golborza Plain to Almorica Castle. Prepare a controllable healer for the period when Kachua is absent.
- After the battle outside the gates, Denim duels Vice inside. Concentrate attack options and healing items on Denim himself; do not rely on other allies to heal him.
- Afterward, reconcile with Leonard by choosing “This is certainly no time to fight” for N, or refuse with “I absolutely cannot do that” for C. Preserve a save before choosing, and account for Aloser's departure.
Chapter 3L: Madura Ice Field to Junoun
- Travel from Madura Ice Field to Brigantes Castle. Choose the south or west entrance and keep healing items for the interior battle. Winning at the entrance does not complete the castle.
- Accept Junoun during the conversations after the interior battle and liberation. He is exclusive to L and is involved in Oxyones's later recruitment.
- Proceed to Bahanna Highlands and Coritani Castle. Deploy Junoun inside Coritani and keep him alive until his conversation with Guacharo appears. Do not defeat the leader first and skip it.
Chapter 3L: Retaking Almorica
- After Coritani, pass through either Suwonzee Forest or Lake Bordu, then Tynemouth, to Almorica Castle. Adjust exorcism and ranged attacks to the enemies and terrain on your chosen route.
- After clearing the gates and interior, Vice, Mildain, Gildas, and generic soldiers join. Vice is recruitable as a controllable unit only on L; do not look for the same recruitment timing on C or N.
- Vice can use 2 one-handed weapons. Check equipment weight and healing options, and do not send him alone into the middle of the enemy immediately after recruitment.
Chapter 3L: Haborym at Rime
- Travel from Mount Weobry to Rime. To rescue Haborym, prepare a flying unit with healing items and approach along a separate route from your healing caster.
- Prioritize eliminating enemies around Haborym. When your back line is still far away, stopping enemies heading toward the rescue target is more effective than scattering attacks across the enemy force.
- Win with him alive, then proceed to the south or west of Phidoch Castle. Equip Haborym with Petrify Cloud if you have it, and prepare another attack for enemies resistant to status ailments.
Chapter 3N: Boed Fortress and the detour deadline
- After the battle outside Almorica Castle, proceed to Boed Fortress. Selye's rescue affects Chapter 4 recruitment, so prepare flying units and ranged healing first.
- After Boed Fortress, visiting Krysaro before clearing the port of Ashton leads to Qadriga Fortress's rescue. Keep Festa, Tamuz, and Chamos alive and accept Haborym's recruitment.
- If you skip this detour, another chance to rescue Haborym appears at the port of Golyat after Damsa Fortress. Do not expect to visit both rescue battlefields in the same progression.
Chapter 3N: Orias and Debordes
- Travel from Tynemouth to the port of Ashton. Orias and Debordes are guests; deal with the undead and finish the battle with the 2 alive.
- Win with the 2 alive and confirm their recruitment. These 2 are N-exclusive; do not search for the same rescue event at Ashton on C/L.
- Proceed to Mount Hedon, Banhamuba, and Damsa Fortress. Gildas becomes a permanent ally on L/C; on N, do not plan on recruiting the 2 of him and Mildain together.
Chapter 3N: Coritani to Phidoch
- Clear Coritani Castle's gates and interior, then travel to Mount Weobry and Rime. Check enemy archers and mages first, and avoid placing your casters at exposed elevations.
- Choose Phidoch Castle's south or west entrance. Their trophies differ, so check the bow and elemental armor collection table before deciding.
- Winning inside leads to Chapter 4. Selye, rescued on N, joins permanently through Chapter 4's Krysaro and pirate report events; her Chapter 3 guest rescue does not finish recruitment.
Chapter 3C: Coritani to Haborym's rescue
- Travel from the port of Ashton through Zodo Marsh to Coritani Castle. Clear the interior, then pass through Bahanna Highlands and enter Brigantes Castle from the south or west.
- After Brigantes, rescue Haborym on your return to Bahanna Highlands. Distinguish this from the first highlands battle, and check the rescue target's HP and nearby enemies.
- Deliver healing items with a flying unit and stop enemies targeting him until ground allies arrive. Prioritize winning with Haborym alive.
Chapter 3C: Rime to Selye's recruitment
- Clear Coritani Castle again and proceed to Mount Weobry and Rime. During consecutive battles, check Denim's and your casters' HP even after finishing the gates.
- After Rime, welcome Mildain and Gildas at Almorica's event. Visit Boed Fortress before Phidoch; Selye joins after the battle. This timing differs from N's rescue and Chapter 4 pirate events.
- Choose Phidoch Castle's south or west entrance and proceed inside. Aloser stays on C; if you rescued Sisteena, you can also prepare for Chapter 4's four-sister events.
Shared Chapter 3: Phidoch trophies
- The south entrance offers possible Firestorm and Sandstorm Bows with fire/earth armor; the west offers Thunder and Frozen Bows with wind/water armor. Choose based on the element wanted for your archers.
- Check the casters dropping Salamander and Gnome at the south/west entrances and prevent enemies from collecting the treasure. Do not rush to defeat only the enemy leader and miss the remaining spells.
- Give recovered summon spells to classes that can cast them. Positioning so that only 1 target remains within range helps concentrate the repeated hits on that enemy.
Chapter 4: Brigantes to Banhamuba
- Chapter 4's main route goes from Bahanna Highlands to Brigantes Castle on L/N/C alike. Available allies and detours carry forward the results of the earlier route.
- After Olivia joins at Brigantes, pass through Mount Hedon to Banhamuba Temple. To recruit Sherry, do not reduce her HP to 0; bring it down to 1–20 and let her retreat.
- After Moruba's conversation, return to Phidoch Castle and check the reports and the event concerning the princess's whereabouts. Finish preparations to collect Sherry before clearing Barnicia.
Chapter 4: Welcoming Sherry
- Let Sherry escape at Banhamuba and confirm Olivia is alive. After the event concerning the princess's whereabouts, visit Balmamusa before clearing Barnicia Castle.
- Visiting town in heavy rain triggers the recruitment event. If the rain is insufficient, prepare to use Call Storm nearby, check the weather, and then enter town.
- Repeated town visits will not recruit Sherry without the required timing, Olivia, and weather. Check this detour before finishing Barnicia.
Chapter 4: Barnicia and Kachua
- Travel from Lambeth Hill through Barnicia Castle's gates, courtyard, and interior. If Kachua appears as an enemy, finish the fight against Tartaros with her alive.
- On the path where you refused to fight your sister when Moruba asked, watch for area attacks or counters that could hit Kachua. Meet the enemy near the entrance rather than rushing into the square, and avoid getting too close to the rescue target.
- On this path, choose “I did leave you behind” and then “I love you, sister!” to recruit her. The later answers differ if you answered Moruba differently; do not reuse this combination.
Chapter 4: Rendol and Ganpp
- After Barnicia, return to Phidoch and read “Salvaging the Sunken Ship Ramzen.” Win at the newly opened Grimsby battlefield with Rendol alive.
- Next, read the “Bandits in Nimrahava Forest” report and enter the forest. Keep Ganpp's 2 griffins alive and reduce Ganpp's own HP to 1–20 to recruit him.
- Organize your formation after Ganpp, Berda Jr., and Obda Jr. join. Only 2 L-size units may deploy, so review your regular front line when adding beasts.
Chapter 4L: Checking Oxyones's prerequisites
- Confirm that Junoun joined in Chapter 3L and that his conversation inside Coritani Castle occurred. Deploying him for the first time in Chapter 4 cannot replace that earlier conversation.
- After Banhamuba, read “Mysterious Explosion on Exeter Island” at Phidoch to open the path. Clear the regular battle at the Belmoruse Plateau, then deploy Junoun in the subsequent random battle.
- During Oxyones's battle, wait for the conversation between Junoun and Denim and adjust her HP to 1–20. Switch to stone throwing or similar attacks near the end to avoid reducing it to 0 with a strong hit.
Chapter 4: The 4 forbidden-magic temples
- After Barnicia Castle, visit Coritani Castle and choose to seek forbidden magic. Return to Banhamuba and proceed with the ritual that makes the Phoraena sisters Shamans.
- Selye is associated with Boed Fortress, Sisteena with Damsa Fortress, Sherry with Gekko Fortress, and Olivia with Gerudo Fortress. Confirm the sisters' survival and recruitment first.
- Selye and Sisteena cannot both be recruited on L, so the fire and wind temples cannot be opened under the same conditions. This section covers only the ritual and associated fortresses. Details such as possessing the shields needed to enter the temples await cross-checking against independent references and are not published as a continuation of the confirmed steps.
Chapter 4: Yorumza to Heim Castle
- Travel from Yorumza Canyon to the town of Wairam. Before proceeding to Heim Castle, check missed allies, purchases from Deneb's shop, and healing and resurrection spellbooks.
- Enter Heim Castle through the main gate and courtyard or the rear gate and south side, then proceed inside. Allow for consecutive battles through the interior rather than using all healing items at the entrance.
- Defeat Branta inside. Do not ignore angel reinforcements or enemy healing; check range and elevation and concentrate attacks. Make a normal save before continuing to the Hanging Gardens afterward.
Hanging Gardens: Before the final consecutive battles
- Entering the Hanging Gardens prevents a return to the regional map. Prepare HP healing, MP recovery, Resurrection, and ranged attacks, and keep a separate save outside the gardens.
- The gardens have battlefields across 18 floors and hidden doors. Waiting at particular positions can lead to other floors, but check the next destination shown rather than relying on unverified coordinates to skip ahead.
- Proceed through the entrance to the catacombs and the ancient ruins to the Sealed Chamber. There is a save opportunity when moving underground, but this is not a chance to return to shopping.
Sealed Chamber: 2 final battles
- Barbas and Martym appear in the first battle. Defeat them, recover Brynhildr, and proceed to the following Dolgare battle.
- Dolgare replenishes his guards with Summon Darkness when their numbers fall. Focus on reaching the boss rather than eliminating all enemies. Support your healers' MP with Charge Spell and supplies against party-wide attacks. Spread out the back line and create a route for flying units or bows to reach the leader.
- Handle Dolgare's guards too. Use physical attacks against magic-resistant Dark Stalkers, and account for facing when positioning against Dark Eyes with Evil Eye. Avoid giving everyone the same attack method, and assign separate units to healing and offense.
Inside Phidoch Castle: Route-specific victory conditions
| Route | Interior opponent | Preparation and progression |
|---|---|---|
| L | Oz | Begins as a duel involving Denim, then becomes a party battle when the enemy's HP reaches 200 or less. You are not expected to defeat him during the first phase alone. |
| N | Ozma | Prepare healing and curing magic for petrification, poison, and special attacks. |
| C | Ozma and Oz | Defeat the 2 leaders. Focus on reducing one first and leave healers behind the front line. |
- The Cleric's Wing Ring is also a trophy to collect in L's party battle. Check the trophy-bearing enemy before rushing to defeat only the leader.
Prepare separately for the Palace of the Dead
This detour is not required to finish the main story. Keep a normal save before entering, and prepare exorcism, status protection, and resurrection.
- Open the path through Chapter 4's explosion report, then keep Radlum alive when he appears early in the exploration to recruit him. His exact floor still requires confirmation from independent references.
- There is a chance to learn Shimmei Myoken on basement floor 6. Decide who should learn it and check whether your formation uses swords.
- Normal saving is unavailable during the SFC dungeon. Suspending is possible, but the save disappears on resuming; distinguish taking a break during the long exploration from retreating.
