Build chains from current request to next card

  1. Check the taste the Horror currently wants.
  2. Find candidates of that taste in your hand.
  3. Check for a card satisfying the next request after playing the candidate.
  4. Compare longer chains with feeding or defensive effects needed immediately.
  5. Prioritize responding to the next action over using every card in your hand.

Hypothetical example for thinking about chains

This example illustrates an approach, not a fixed recipe connecting particular dishes in this order. Even if card B follows A, the chain stops without a C matching the subsequent request. When adding a card, check what leads into it and what it leads into, as well as its feeding amount alone. A three-flavour cycle is one possible build, not a universally strongest rule against every opponent.

Deck problemWhat to reconsider
Few cards can start a chainEnsure flavours responding to the opening Craving
Always stalls partway throughCheck missing connections
Drawing only the same tasteCheck card counts and role imbalance
Cornered during a chainCheck actions, stamina and dishes' additional abilities too

Craving differs from likes and dislikes

Check the taste needed for a chain separately from reactions to liked or disliked dishes. Prioritize rereading encounter information over matching the old fixed Horror table. If dislikes or status prevent expected connections, inspect current card and Horror displays rather than dish names alone. Specific multipliers and all exceptions are not reduced to a single universal value here.

Adding seasonings and Cookware

After seasoning changes a taste or ability, check the chain before and after that card. Read Cookware activation conditions instead of assuming it always works whenever a card is played. Separating chain-extension mechanisms from stamina/survival support makes deck gaps easier to identify. Prioritize combinations that work together over sheer variety.

Frequently asked questions

Does a three-flavour cycle guarantee victory?

No. A cycle is one deckbuilding idea, but outcomes vary with your hand and the Horror's preferences, status and actions. It is not a fixed order working against everyone.

Do dishes gain a bonus from their region of origin?

The old fixed multiplier for matching regions of origin could not be confirmed and was removed. Judge from effects displayed on the cards and Horror.
