What is Elin?
Using Elin’s normal Stable branch, check initial controls, food and rest, quests, tools and the order of processing facilities. Choose your next action from the current display.
Edition: PC Steam app 2135150, normal Stable branch without mods. Control examples use a new character at the standard starting home with no oaths. One Block, Nightly, special oaths and Elona/Elona+ are outside scope. Prioritize your own screen for racial and class skill differences.
Verification scope: Checked on 2026-10-04 against EA 23.338 Stable (official announcement body dated 2026-08-24; Steam posting dated 2026-08-23). Do not assume September news about Nightly additions applies to normal Stable. Further Stable patch numbers and the installed game have not been verified. Recipes were compared with the current wiki and independent guides; disagreements were also checked against developer-published tables, while details unconfirmed in the same release version remain withheld.

First match the normal version and starting conditions
Elin is a single-player RPG combining adventure, gathering, crafting and home building in one life. Alongside open-ended play, the starting area offers guides and initial quests. If your objective becomes unclear, review quest displays and home conversations before traveling to a distant town.

Check just three things before choosing the next task
Starting expeditions, farming and home building together can obscure what each material is for. Complete one action first and confirm the result on screen.
- Check hunger, fatigue and weight in status displays. Eat, sleep or put down supplies before gathering if needed.
- Read the current quest in the tracker and journal. Check verbs such as craft, place, equip or report, not just item names.
- Search the recipe for one needed item and check the station and carried materials. After crafting, check whether it appeared in inventory, on the ground or in the facility.
This order is one example for reducing mistakes, not the only route or a minimum-day schedule.
Read similar words as different states
Wide tables scroll horizontally.
| Term | Where to check | Common confusion | Next action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hold/equip | Hands and equipment slots | Possessing a tool alone does not make it usable. | Hold the axe; put a light source in its appropriate slot. |
| Drop/place | Action prompt when targeting | Dropping at your feet is different from installing a facility. | Hold and place it, then check usability. |
| Rest/sleep | HP, MP and stamina/fatigue | Restored HP does not necessarily mean work fatigue is gone. | Sleep in a bed and inspect your condition on waking. |
| Crafting/Carpentry/Sculpture | Skills and recipes | Crafting alone may not suffice for every facility. | Read the required skill name first. |
| Shared chest/shipping chest | Chest name and settings | Do not use one chest indiscriminately for storage and selling. | Store needed items; ship only items to sell. |

Expand your scope gradually once daily life works
- Use the introduction for gathering, picking up, eating, sleeping and storing. Test food and a bed before the date advances.
- For quest dependencies, use early progression. Open only the closed answer numbers relevant to the current quest.
- For more facilities, use tools and processing. Distinguish logs/planks, branches/sticks and stones/cut stones even when names look similar.
The existing idea of choosing adventure or everyday life is retained, while clarifying that NPC quests teach the introduction.
