The Pedestrian Rooftops Guide: Green Preserved States, Fan, and Lifts 399/444
Released: Guide to the standard Steam version · Updated 2026-10-13
Contents of green signs survive connection changes. However, connected devices reset differently depending on whether the powering lever is inside or outside the green sign.
Green states and power direction
Distinguish sign doors, ladders, cutout holes, and power outside signs. Instead of reproducing layout diagrams, original tables organize items to fetch and state changes.
| Goal / scene | Action | State check |
|---|---|---|
| Inside a green sign | Preserves the person, items, levers, and other states | Changing connections does not return it to the normal initial state. |
| Lever inside green → device outside | Power source is preserved | The connected device retains its effect too. |
| Lever outside → device inside green | Power source returns to its normal state | Being inside green does not guarantee continued operation. |
| Disconnect green | Normal resetting becomes possible | Some puzzles deliberately reset it to disable a laser. |
First rooftop mechanism
Distinguish sign doors, ladders, cutout holes, and power outside signs. Instead of reproducing layout diagrams, original tables organize items to fetch and state changes.
| Goal / scene | Action | State check |
|---|---|---|
| Empty room | Attach green and enter | The person's position remains even after reconnecting to the exit. |
| Lever room | Attach green and pull the lever | Return outside and reconnect the start to the spring exit. |
| 2 green signs | Preserve the floor and laser rooms | Remove only the lever-side green to restore the laser. |
| Connection to the right | Preserve left and right small rooms in order | Return to the opposite side of the large room and descend to the exit. |
| Lift | 399 | Proceed to the rooftop hub. |
Collect key, fan, and cable
Distinguish sign doors, ladders, cutout holes, and power outside signs. Instead of reproducing layout diagrams, original tables organize items to fetch and state changes.
| Goal / scene | Action | State check |
|---|---|---|
| Hub key | Unlock with the key and enter the green room → change connections | Bring back the second key without passing through the opened lock; the box along the way is needed too. |
| Fan key 1 | Place the key in front of the laser | Move green to the laser room and transfer the blocking role to the box. |
| Fan key 2 | Power the piston open | Use cutouts and green to return to the laser's shutoff side. |
| Fan | Open 2 doors with 2 keys and press the button | Return below to retrieve the fallen fan. |
| Cable box 1 | Place the box on a removable floor and preserve that room | Remove the floor from the start and take the fallen box. |
| Cable box 2 | Preserve lever/button/key states with green in order | Use the box to reach the button and lower the piston. |
| Cable | Bounce 2 boxes onto the upper shelf | Use them as steps to take the cable and return to the hub. |
| Final lift | 444 | Ascend to the apartment. |
Put items down before moving the preserved state to another room
Some puzzles require putting a held key in the room you want to retain before changing the preservation target, to avoid losing it. Check the person's position, key, box, and lever as four separate elements.
A connection graph for every rooftop puzzle and step-by-step inputs from every initial state remain incomplete. The above is an index of major branch goals and state changes.
