Haiku Basics | Heat Gauge, Repairs, and Chip Colors
Added main story, full collection tables, additional areas/modes, and lore locations · Updated 2026-10-13
Distinguish heat-generating abilities from heat-reducing equipment. Find cooling stops before starting long movement sequences in dangerous areas.
Track heat and health separately
Dodging, bombs, and Hook use heat. A full gauge in hot areas may prevent consecutive movement abilities, so identify platforms where you can wait first.
Wrench repairs require spare parts. Heal where you have room to use it; on a no-wrench run, do not obtain it in the first place.
Build equipment around socket colors
Equip chips at repair points. Red, blue, and green require matching sockets; you cannot freely substitute an unused socket of another color.
Choose 1 goal—reducing heat, dropping fewer spare parts, or extending reach—and select the matching effect. No speculative best-in-slot ranking is fixed here.
Why bank spare parts?
Bank spare parts using Goldcrest Whistle and perches. Plan necessary purchases separately before distant collections or bosses so dying does not leave you unable to afford shop prices.
Nomad’s Plate and Pocket Magnet mitigate death losses; they do not make shop items free when you lack the required spare parts.
Ball, Bomb, Double Jump, and Hook
Body Modifier's ball fits narrow gaps and sometimes uses movement momentum. Using Bomb while rolled up can launch you above small holes.
You do not have to travel straight to a wall with Hook before landing. Check routes where you jump before spikes or falling lava and connect into another Hook.
