Before descending: check your save and first nine units
- Before entering the castle underground, arrange Alm and the first nine units for the final battle. Include army-wide healing and allies who can support the healers' HP, such as Tatiana and Silque.
- After a short advance, the return path closes and saving becomes unavailable. Celica's army takes damage while you change screens, so finish preparations to reduce aimless backtracking first.
- Use the underground Celica command to check the other army's HP. Allies other than Celica can fall too; do not assume everyone is safely waiting.
The first underground branch

Temple entrance: distinguish Gradivus from the pits
- At the temple, you can speak to Celica through the fence. On the left screen, inspect the hidden passage beyond the second entrance from the right and collect Gradivus from its chest.
- Return to the four pits and take the lower-right one first. Record it as the branch for Falchion instead of repeatedly trying every pit.
- After dropping three floors, go right, complete the battle, and head to the treasury behind the blue door. Advance with the main force together instead of lingering on the poisonous marsh floor.
Collect the required weapon

Treasury: complete Alm's solo consecutive battles
- Check Alm's HP and equipment before the blue door. The treasury has solo battles where you cannot rely on your companions' numbers.
- Complete consecutive battles against liches, balrogs, and white dragons in order. Enemy counts differ between sources in places, so this guide does not calculate attrition from fixed counts.
- After all battles, collect Falchion from the chest and give it to Alm. Reaching the chest alone does not finish your equipment check.
Proceed beyond the treasury

Return to the four pits, then take the upper-left route to the altar
- After the treasury sequence, return to the pits, descend to the lowest level, and climb the stairs. Confirm you are back at the four pits.
- This time take the upper-left pit, descend one floor, then go right. In the battle where walls disappear into poisonous marsh, watch how waiting positions change too.
- At the next large pit, choose the bottom square of the vertical three-square column on the right. After dropping two floors, climb the stairs and check final preparations before the blue door.
| Location or condition to check | Action to take | Remaining check |
|---|---|---|
| First four pits | Lower right | Toward the treasury and Falchion |
| After returning to the four pits | Upper left | Toward the altar route |
| Large pit farther on | Bottom of the three vertical squares on the right | To the stairs after dropping two floors |

Before the altar: check both armies' healers and Falchion
- Check that Alm holds Falchion and both armies' leading deployed units are ordered as planned. Do not leave important equipment on reserves.
- Check damage accumulated by Celica's army. Consider an army-wide heal from Alm's side as an opening move, while preserving the healer's own HP too.
- Keep your own turn count during the final battle. If attacking Jedah, position main fighters to reach him on a turn divisible by four.
How to approach the final battle
How to approach the final battle — open
Final battle: reduce summoners and set up Alm's attack
- At the start, prioritize healing and enemies close to both armies. Even if warping Alm to Celica's side, do not leave the departure side's healers within enemy range.
- Attack Jedah only after checking a turn when damage will get through. Reduce surrounding monsters and approach without exposing adjacent allies to attacks all at once.
- Near Duma, watch Ganeff's Medusa and Marla's and Hestia's magic and summons. Some enemies remain after their summoner falls, so reassess the battlefield.
- Reduce Duma's HP and set up the finish with Alm wielding Falchion. If other weapons stop dealing damage late in the battle, check equipment and where Alm can reach.
- Keep Alm alive with healing and create attack opportunities. A guaranteed procedure using exact boss HP thresholds, healing randomness, and critical rates is unverified.
