Whiskerwood production chains: inputs, factories and logistics

Diagnose factory stoppages through inputs, skills, tools, storage and travel. Explains connections for planks, clothing, metals, food and plumbing.

Scope: Whiskerwood PC Early Access edition

Checked scope: Mouse colony management, initial settlement, taxes, education, production and logistics. Requirements vary with settings and updates; this is not a complete table of all building costs, naval systems or research.

Weaver clothing and cloth are separate recipes. Do not treat them as one straight process making everything simultaneously.

Conditions for factories to operate

Inputs alone do not guarantee operation. Check these conditions from the top.

Checking Weaver and tools

Scissors are an optional catalyst assisting production at Weaver and similar facilities. Unlike raw inputs or maintenance Machinery, lacking a catalyst alone does not make basic production impossible.

  1. Choose the product, then check input materials separately from the optional catalyst field.
  2. To assist production with a catalyst, trace supply through copper ore, Ore Furnace and Coppersmith. Enable catalyst use at the facility.
  3. Arrange storage for required materials near the factory.
  4. Machinery is also used for maintenance, so check stocks after initial construction ends.

For early Machinery, check supply ships and tax rewards too. Late-game self-production is not treated as an early requirement.

Shorten carrying routes before expanding

Workers fetching materials far away spend less time at their facilities.

  1. Choose one slow facility and watch where its worker travels back and forth.
  2. Bring input storage and finished-product destinations closer.
  3. Check for detours in stairs and roads crossing height differences.
  4. Add factories once storage and demand align. Large quantities of unused processed goods can also affect tax burden.

Separate piped water from drinking supplies

This is not a system for distributing drinking water to Whiskers. Consider piped water for bathing, cooking, steam and other facility uses.

Frequently asked questions

Factory stopped despite stock

Check whether stock can reach the factory, then recipe, required skills, Machinery and storage. Optional catalysts such as Scissors differ from mandatory production inputs.

Must residents drink water?

You do not need to distribute it as residents' drinking water. Supply piped water to facilities such as Showers, Soup Kitchen and Boiler.
