INDIE GAME / PLAY GUIDE
Tangle Tower Investigation Basics | Conversations, Statements, and Evidence
Added separate evidence, suspicion, puzzle, and finale guides · Updated 2026-10-12
Even with the same person, character questions, item presentation, statements, and suspicions are separate actions. Use conversation markers and inventory changes to narrow down what is missing.
Basic conversation → statement → suspicion
After the initial basic questions, you can obtain a statement. Suspicions unlock through room mechanisms or conversations after showing the same item to another person.
If a suspicion is missing, do more than repeat an introduction already answered: check whether you have shown the necessary item to someone else, too.
Distinguish having an item from showing it to everyone
The mansion picture and Case File are available from the start. For the achievements, show both separately to all eight people: Flora, Felix, Fifi, Percival, Poppy, Penny, Fitz, and Hawkshaw.
Distinguish similar items by where you found them: the two ripped photos, single and multiple models, and Freya's versus Flora's diagrams.
Zoom in, arrange, confirm, collect
Clicking an item alone may leave Look closer or confirmation unfinished. Once the arrangement is correct, press the confirmation control, such as the keyhole, and check the revealed item, too.
Not every room decoration is essential evidence, but statues, research documents, the globe, and suspect board have achievement conditions.
Things to try before reading a solution
Use the hint above a puzzle to hear Grimoire and Sally's conversation. A mechanism's reverse side or the opposite door may contain clues.
The suspicion and finale articles contain story answers. On a first playthrough, use the walkthrough to check currently accessible rooms, and consult solutions only for the object blocking you.
Where you open the art changes which saves are counted
The Steam PC art gallery was added in a free June 2020 update. Work-in-progress art and notes for people, places, and evidence become viewable with main-game progress.
If art remains locked after completion, first check where you opened the gallery. A new save's Case File and the title-screen gallery count progress differently.
| Entrance / state | Progress counted | What to do if art is missing |
|---|---|---|
| Title-screen Art Gallery | Combines progress across three save slots | Use this entrance if you have a completed save |
| In-game Case File | Only the one currently loaded slot | A new save in progress will still have locked entries |
| A save that has completed the main game | Unlocks all art | Return to the title screen and check the gallery |
How to unlock all art
Full unlocking requires a save that has reached the main game's ending. All ten achievements or every optional conversation are not added as requirements. You also do not need to delete a completed slot to replay in another.
- Proceed through the main game's last conversation and ending.
- Keep the completed save and return to the title screen.
- Select Art Gallery from the title screen.
- Open entries for people, places, and evidence, and check that you are not confusing this with an in-progress Case File display.
To experience progressive unlocking again, start a separate slot and view its Case File. The artwork itself and the creators' complete notes are not reproduced here.
