Shogun Showdown / Shogun Showdown

15 boss categories: telegraphed tiles and escape requirements

Regional bosses, the Shogun's two forms and Day 7's final battle are explained separately. This focuses on tiles to read during combat and escapes to prepare before attacks, without mixing HP values across versions or difficulties.

Scope: PC full release, version 1.0 series (sources compared through official patch 1.0.2.1). Excludes Prologue, old Alpha versions and mods. Behavior has not been verified through gameplay or video, and individual console patch numbers remain unconfirmed. / Content checked: October 2, 2026

Four checks before a boss

PreparationWhat happens if it is missing
Movement or swappingWalking alone may not dodge consecutive attacks such as Charge → Spear
Attacks that do not depend on repositioningSmoke Bomb or swaps fail against Immovable enemies, stopping your response
Ranged or backward attacksSummoned archers or chargers remain behind nearby enemies
How to spend cooldown turnsAfter using a powerful hit, you have no other attack or escape ready
  • Complete HP tables for corrupted variants and different Days remain under review. Unverified fixed HP or supposedly guaranteed dodge procedures are not given.

Daisuke the Dasher

Location: Bamboo Forest

  1. When a charge tile appears, expect a melee follow-up and prepare a way to escape the charge endpoint.
  2. Use the Wanderer's swap or the Ronin's Smoke Bomb to get behind the attack. Understand what your character's ability moves before using it.
  3. When spiked charging troops appear, handle them at range while dodging the boss. Check that moving toward ordinary enemies does not put you inside the boss's attack sequence.

Rei the Ruthless

Location: additional Bamboo Forest boss

  1. An alternative Bamboo Forest boss unlocked after defeating the Shogun for the first time. Treat this separately from the old Prologue's boss lineup.
  2. Watch out for pushes from Charge and Dragon Punch. Even if you think an enemy is shielding you, a collision can catch you as well.
  3. Keep a nearby position where your ability can work, and distinguish the Charge warning from an attack in the opposite direction. Before summoned enemies build up, check whether you can still retreat after attacking.

Iwao the Impaler

Location: Whispering Caves

  1. Spear reaches the two spaces ahead, while Earth Impale targets the second space in front and behind. Start at least three spaces away, watch the queue, and decide when to approach.
  2. Moving adjacent while watching only Earth Impale can leave you facing a melee tile queued immediately afterward. Check the following tile before attacking.
  3. When chargers and spearmen join in, making only the boss miss does not necessarily keep you safe. Save ranged tiles for dealing with the other enemies.

Baru the Barricader

Location: Battlefield

  1. The barricade in front stops melee attacks. Decide whether to destroy it or use a tile that reaches two spaces ahead to target the boss behind it.
  2. When you see a ranged attack warning, do not keep queuing attacks from the same position. Make time for a swap or retreat.
  3. When barricades are placed again, reassess whether your next attack can reach the boss. More enemies also appear, so avoid a build that can do nothing but keep hitting obstacles.

The Twins

Location: Moonlit Port

  1. Stay where you cannot be caught between them. The Twins share HP, and attacks can come from two directions even when you are focused on only one of them.
  2. Read one twin's Spear together with the other's position change. If your position after a swap is still in Spear range, the swap alone has not dodged it.
  3. Use the Wanderer or Chain Master to shift attack directions and aim for friendly fire. No additional enemies are summoned, so you can focus on the two queues and their facing.

The Statue

Location: Gate to the Netherworld

  1. Because it is Immovable, do not make position swaps your main way to evade. Choose your distance according to the queued tile: outside Spear range, inside an attack that hits the second space, and so on.
  2. The Itako on the left summons enemies. Decide whether to leave or defeat melee enemies according to how that changes the targets of the boss's Grappling Hook and Arrow.
  3. Before executing multiple tiles, check whether you can avoid the final attack from your position after being pulled. The Itako's HP and the threshold for the final pattern are still being checked.

Kowa the Coward

Location: Hot Springs

  1. Separate the attack that removes the shield from the attack that hits the boss afterward. If you rely on a single powerful hit, the regenerating shield can easily stop your offense.
  2. Save ranged tiles for the retreating boss. Check your line of fire and Smoke Bomb swaps so that you do not spend all your time chasing and preparing again.
  3. Read the boss's position swap together with attacks from summoned enemies. Even with a shield, a position change can move you into attack range.

Fumiko the Fallen

Location: Unmarked Graves

  1. She approaches quickly and uses Spear. Do not plan to evade with only one step back; keep a way to get behind the attack, such as a position swap.
  2. Curse increases the damage you take afterward. Do not overreach for damage; keep movement tiles or your unique ability available.
  3. When plague chargers are summoned, remove them first with ranged attacks or multi-kills. Sources disagree on a fixed summon count, so none is asserted here.

Sato the Stagemaster

Location: Illusory Noh Stage

  1. This opponent refers to your own tiles, so know the ranges and movement effects you carry. When you see a queued tile, work out what that same tile will target.
  2. A change of act brings a fight with lesser enemies. While handling them, let the cooldowns of your main tiles recover for the boss's return.
  3. For the achievement that requires a defeat in the first act, concentrate damage before the act changes. Ice can help, but prepare for this as a separate challenge from a normal victory.

Hideyoshi the Cunning

Location: Lord Hideyoshi's Keep

  1. He executes several tiles together, including movement. Do not judge safety from the first move alone; consider where Spear or a ranged attack will reach at the end.
  2. Queue an escape tile as soon as you see preparation for an attack that changes position. Starting to prepare two tiles just before the attack may be too late.
  3. When Curse and summoned enemies overlap, prioritize a way to avoid hits. Do not focus only on the boss while leaving summoned Shinobi or archers unchecked.

Nobunaga the Wicked

Location: Lord Nobunaga's Headquarters

  1. Lure the boss onto a lit space before attacking. You cannot deal damage while he is in darkness.
  2. Make a melee warning miss to create a chance to move onto a lit space. Do not base your plan on freezing him in place.
  3. Keep checking the boss's position after queuing your tiles. When other enemies appear, clear them so they cannot block the route into the light or your escape.
Back to contents ↑

Ieyasu the Patient

Location: Lord Ieyasu's Garden

  1. After swapping positions with a teleporter, he approaches and uses Blade of Patience. Check where the boss will come from, including the teleporter's position.
  2. He grows stronger while preparing the blade, so do not remain in front of him watching the queue. Enter with a build that can swap or retreat before the attack.
  3. Handle Wardens and archers as threats separate from the boss's destination. Teleporter HP and a fixed procedure after destroying it are still being checked.

The Shogun, first form

Location: Shogun's Castle

  1. Prepare for consecutive attacks such as Charge and Spear on a narrow board. Before queuing many tiles, check your swap destination and whether your unique ability will work.
  2. Watch the summons and shields from the Itako on both sides, and keep lesser enemies from filling your movement destinations.
  3. Lightning can be drawn to an Itako at the edge. Do not make a single ranged tile your only main attack against the boss; bring melee options or tiles that target something else.

The Shogun, second form

Location: Shogun's Castle, after the first form

  1. Read the queue, including movement to the center, forward and backward charges, and movement to the opposite side. Consider where the boss moves partway through it.
  2. When you see Back Charge and mirror movement, switch to a plan for dodging the Shuriken that follows. Your own mirror movement alone may not take you out of its line of fire.
  3. Clear lesser enemies to leave spaces for avoiding attacks that spread left and right. If the next encounter is the Day 7 final battle, do not use up all your shields and healing.

Day 7 final battle: Corrupted Soul

Location: After defeating the Shogun's second form

  1. Defeating the second form is not the end. While the boss is airborne, use the time to clear summoned enemies and recover cooldowns instead of trying to land attacks.
  2. Have your main tiles ready for when it descends and attacks. The short period after it lands is your chance to hit the boss.
  3. If lesser enemies block your destinations, you may be unable to escape wide-area attacks. Clear even weak enemies first when they obstruct a passage.
  4. Attacks that hit every other space are harder for the Shadow to avoid because normal movement travels farther. Enter the final battle with shields, healing, or alternative movement tiles left.
  5. The persistence of Poison and Curse after it returns to the air, along with fixed HP and attack-count values, is still being checked. Wait for chances when it lands and attack steadily.
