Northgard Victory Guide: Enabled Rules and Progress Checks
Check enabled victory conditions, required buildings and resources, and interruptions in normal PC matches. Major-update changes and special-mode differences are also explained.
Edition: PC Steam app 466560 / Northgard: Definitive Edition. Primarily normal, unmodded Singleplayer, using Stag (Eikthyrnir) as the baseline example and assuming normal victory conditions are enabled. Distinguish Story, Conquest, Bifröst, additional clans, consoles and mobile.
Verification scope: Public sources compared on 2026-10-04. Latest official patch listed: v4.3.26.43334, 2026-08-27. Reflects Definitive Edition on 2025-12-04, Winds of Fate on 2025-04-16, and Trade/Wisdom revisions. No hands-on testing of an installed build was performed.

Read the match rules before choosing how to win
The baseline is normal, unmodded PC Steam play. Check enabled conditions on the in-game victory screen before spending resources toward one. The solutions below contain specific targets and procedures.
Wide tables scroll horizontally.
| Situation | Check first | Relation to this guide |
|---|---|---|
| Normal Singleplayer / Multiplayer | Victory settings at setup and the in-game victory screen | Read solutions for the normal conditions actually enabled |
| Team match | Allied and enemy-team status as well as your own progress | “Every enemy” in a free-for-all explanation does not include allies |
| Conquest | Objectives, time limits and bonuses for the selected battle | Definitive Edition adds the Miklagard system; check whether this battle enables it |
| Story/Bifröst | Mode-specific objectives and current stages on screen | Normal-match conditions may not finish the battle |
| Special clan / mods | Clan description, unique victories and rule changes | Stag's common procedure is not the only method for every clan |

An unusual map feature does not guarantee its special victory is enabled. Check the objective list first.
Read enabled conditions → shortages → interruptions
- Open the victory screen from the clan/victory display at upper left. Check your chosen condition and opponents' progress.
- If values, buildings and zones are listed separately, identify the unmet entry. Do not infer the cause from the overall percentage alone.
- For building-dependent objectives, separate starting construction, completion, operation and defending its zone
- If progress stops, check shortages, disabled functions, attacks and other clans' competition in that order. Open only the needed solution.
Victory-screen progress and resource or relationship values elsewhere may use different scales.

Requirements and actions for four normal victory conditions
These are representative normal-match cases with the relevant condition enabled. Distinguish conditions requiring buildings and territory alongside numerical targets.
- For Domination, upgrade the Scout Camp and explore your advance. Open a route to the enemy base, clear defenders and confirm decolonization finishes.
- Defeating the enemy army or taking one non-base zone does not eliminate the clan. Check remaining opponents on the victory screen.
- For Fame, check Fame and owned-zone count separately. Scouted or cleared neutral land does not count as owned.
- Normally, the Altar is built after upgrading the Town Hall for 300 Wood, 300 Kröwns and 15 Stone. If Stag knowledge or another modifier changes this, use the clan's construction display.
- If you lose territory just before meeting the Fame requirements, recheck ownership. More Fame does not replace missing land or an unfinished building.
Wide tables scroll horizontally.
| Victory conditions | Enabled mode | Prerequisite | Progression action | Confirmation / exceptions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Domination | Normal matches against enemy clans | Scouting and a route to the enemy base, plus troops able to overcome defenders | Decolonize the enemy Town Hall zone and eliminate the clan | Check remaining enemies on the victory screen; Story and other specific objectives differ |
| Fame | Enabled normal match; eligible clan | 1,200 Fame; 12 zones on small/medium maps or 14 on large/huge maps; Altar of Kings | Own the zones, accumulate Fame and complete the Altar | Check all 3 simultaneously. Snake is ineligible; special battles have different targets. |
| Trade | Enabled in a normal match; Conquest depends on battle settings | Relevant knowledge, Trading Post / Dock or equivalent, and ongoing Kröwns | Send Kröwns to Miklagard and reach 50% influence | Compare faction shares under Miklagard in Diplomacy; competition changes the pace |
| Wisdom | Enabled normal match; eligible clan | Victory blessing, Monument construction, sustained Lore production and defense | Advance knowledge, select the blessing and accumulate the required Lore at the Monument | Research alone does not finish it; check the building toggle, attacks and location |

Fame from ordinary upgrades, feasts, exploration and other activities is separate from the full victory requirements. In team matches, an ally's completion wins for the team.

Current Trade victory competes for influence with Miklagard
Since the November 2024 released revision, the normal-match target is 50% influence with Miklagard. Do not treat the old Lighthouse-and-2,000-Commercial-Influence route as the current mandatory sequence.
- For Stag, take Coinage in the Lore Tree for a Trading Post, or Shipbuilding for a Longship Dock. With another clan, read any replacement knowledge.
- Assign Merchants or Sailors to the relevant building. Select it and choose the Miklagard route from its trade options.
- Before starting, check Kröwns sent and the remaining balance. Distinguish selling food for money from sending money to gain Miklagard influence.
- Once active, inspect your clan's, other clans' and neutral factions' influence under Miklagard in Diplomacy. Do not confuse this scale with victory-screen progress.
- If progress slows, check workers, operation, money and whether other clans began sending Kröwns. Continuing to pay does not guarantee a fixed pace.
- Compare influence from befriending neutral factions or eliminating hostile ones. Before spending defense funds, inspect other factions' shares and choose your next action.
Wide tables scroll horizontally.
| Display / action | Effect | Common misreading |
|---|---|---|
| Normal Merchant / Sailor production | The building's workers produce resources | Assuming money production also starts victory-related payments automatically |
| Trade with Miklagard | Spend Kröwns to compete for influence | Treating its balance like money-making food exports |
| Influence in Diplomacy | Compare each faction's share | Reading victory-screen progress directly as your influence share |
| Definitive Edition AI | Competes over Miklagard | Assuming an AI match always completes unattended |
| Conquest | The new system is available | Applying a 2024 lack-of-support notice to every current Conquest battle |

Other factions' investment changes the time required, so this guide guarantees neither a winning year nor a universal Kröwns total. Route spending and reward tiers vary by clan, player count and modifiers; adjust using the building display.

Current Wisdom victory requires completing and defending a Monument
Ordinary research and accumulating Lore in the victory building are separate stages. Selecting a final blessing no longer ends the game immediately as in the old system.
- Confirm Wisdom is enabled on the victory screen, then open the Lore Tree. Read the displayed requirements for making the victory blessing available.
- Acquire the required knowledge and select the victory blessing. Check the unlocked Monument in the building menu.
- Select an owned candidate zone and read construction cost, slots and Lore required afterward. Compare a central location with one easier to defend.
- Prepare materials and workers to start construction. The published revision gives 2 in-game months to build and notifies other clans from the start, so prepare defenses beforehand.
- After completion, sustain Loremaster and other Lore production and check accumulation at the Monument. Make sure its Lore-consumption toggle is not switched off.
- If accumulation stops, check attacks in the Monument's zone. Attacks elsewhere in your territory halve newly accumulated Lore, so inspect warnings at your base and distant mines too.
- Restore defenses and resume accumulating the required Lore. Building completion alone is not victory.
Wide tables scroll horizontally.
| Where to inspect | What to check | Response |
|---|---|---|
| Lore Tree | Has the victory blessing been selected? | Check knowledge acquisition and blessing selection separately |
| Candidate construction zone | Free slots, materials and position relative to the center | Compare required Lore and defense burden before placing |
| Monument | Is construction complete and Lore accumulation enabled? | Research stock need not rise if Lore is correctly flowing into the building |
| The Monument's zone | Is it under enemy attack? | Accumulation stops during an attack; bring defenders back |
| Other owned zones | Are there raid warnings? | Attacks halve Lore accumulation speed; address distant raids too |

The December 2023 revision uses 800 Lore at the center, with higher requirements farther away. Distance-related requirements have an October 2025 fix history, so use the building display rather than a universal distance table for every map. Current primary sources did not sufficiently corroborate the fixed knowledge count for the blessing, construction cost or building-slot requirement; these are not asserted here.

Special-map victories require the matching terrain and objective
Representative normal-match cases where Map Special is enabled and the relevant zone spawned. Do not transfer these numbers directly to similarly named Story or Conquest terrain.
- Do not judge by the terrain name alone; check that the objective appears on the victory screen
- Prepare troops to reach it, colonization food, crafting/building resources and the workers advancing the objective separately
- Read the local objective and progress bar. Clearing enemies, starting colonization or starting forging alone does not mean completion.
- Check whether you can hold against reinforcements or other clans, and retain workers so the economy does not starve while waiting
Wide tables scroll horizontally.
| Victory conditions | Enabled mode | Prerequisite | Progression action | Confirmation / exceptions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Yggdrasil | Normal match with the corresponding terrain victory enabled | Scouting, clearing defenders, colonization requirements and capacity to store 1,500 Food | Prepare the Food, start colonization and defend for the normal 6 months | Starting and finishing are separate. Conquest Food and time requirements differ. |
| Magma Flow/Odin’s Sword | Normal match with the corresponding terrain victory enabled | Secure the zone; Anvil of the Gods, Smiths and Iron | Forge the sword's 3 parts, normally 15 Iron and 3 months each | Check the project and completed pieces; do not use ordinary Relic forging time |
| Gates of Helheim | Normal match with the corresponding terrain victory enabled | Troops and defenses able to hold the zone | After colonization, aim to retain it for the normal 8 months | Prepare for continuing enemies; Conquest defense duration and gate counts differ |

These special-victory numbers reflect compared public Wiki descriptions of normal matches, not current-build measurements. If your objective differs, prioritize that battle's requirements. Unique clan victories and all Conquest battles are not covered.

Missing requirements when progress stops
Wide tables scroll horizontally.
| Reason for stalled progress | Unmet condition | Building / display to inspect | Version difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| The condition is absent from the objective list | That victory is disabled, or the clan/scenario has its own conditions | Victory screen, setup and clan description | Distinguish normal matches from Conquest |
| The enemy army is defeated, but the match continues | Enemy-base decolonization is incomplete, or another enemy clan remains | Enemy Town Hall-zone progress and remaining factions | Special scenarios have different victory conditions |
| You have enough Fame, but the match continues | Owned-zone count or Altar requirement is unmet | Individual Fame requirements, zone-ownership colors and Altar | Required territory differs between small/medium and large/huge maps |
| A trade building exists, but payments cannot start | Required knowledge or route is locked or unconfigured | Lore Tree and Trading Post / Dock route options | Do not use the old mandatory-Lighthouse explanation |
| Trade spending continues, but progress is slow | Other factions compete for influence, or balance/operation is insufficient | Miklagard shares, money balance and worker slots | Definitive Edition AI also competes |
| More research does not trigger Wisdom victory | Construction and accumulation after blessing selection are unfinished | Lore Tree and Monument construction/accumulation | Revised to a building-based system in 2023 |
| The Wisdom building exists, but accumulation does not rise | Unfinished, disabled accumulation, insufficient Lore or attacks | Monument toggle and zone, plus attacks elsewhere in owned territory | An attack in the building's zone stops accumulation; attacks elsewhere halve its Lore accumulation rate |
| The special terrain is controlled, but the match continues | The final colonization, crafting or holding stage is unfinished | That map's objective and progress bar | Normal-match and Conquest requirements differ |

A published bug report alone does not prove your match has the same bug. Record mode, clan, build, objectives and operating state first, then distinguish unmet conditions from progression faults.
Frequently asked questions
Should I follow an old guide or the victory screen?
Prioritize the current mode's objective display. Major updates changed Wisdom and Trade procedures. Open the relevant solution on this page for specific requirements.
Can I use every normal victory condition in Conquest?
Check each battle's objectives. The current version includes additional systems, but that does not mean every condition is enabled in every battle.
Is a stalled objective percentage a bug?
Not necessarily. Check disabled functions, attacks, competing factions and unfinished buildings. Use the missing-requirements table to find the row matching your situation.
Does this page cover every clan and special map?
It covers representative normal Viking-clan conditions and some special terrain in normal matches. It is not a list of unique clan victories, mods or every Story and Conquest objective.
