Distinguish resources on hand from ongoing production

Even a large stockpile eventually runs out if it keeps shrinking. Conversely, a small deficit may be temporary if workers can return after a short build or battle. First identify what is consuming the resource.

WarbandCurrent soldier count versus Warband capacityMilitary buildings alone do not create troops; provide villagers to assign and recruitment money

Villagers without a specialist job gather food in suitable owned zones. Turning every villager into a specialist does not automatically solve food shortages.

Before taking a zone, decide who will use it

  1. Look among scouted neighboring zones for the food terrain, wood production, deposits or building slots you currently lack
  2. Read the Colonize cost and check whether the remaining food can last until winter
  3. If enemies are present, decide on a retreat route and healing location before sending troops
  4. After colonizing, build what you need and assign actual workers. More land does not automatically produce specialized resources.
  5. As the front expands, recheck defending troops and upkeep. Do not overbuild facilities without a planned use.

Food spent claiming zones, food/firewood consumed by population and Kröwns spent on building upkeep are separate systems. Do not read this as every empty zone increasing upkeep for all resources.

FAQ

Northgard FAQ

Q1 I built a house, but villagers do not arrive ▼
A

If the population cap has room, check Happiness and the Town Hall arrival display. Houses primarily increase capacity. Address hunger, cold, sickness or other warnings at their source first.

Q2 Is avoiding combat and focusing on the economy safe? ▼
A

Even economy-focused objectives need defenses against raids. Check whether you can protect the buildings and zones used for victory as well as maintain stockpiles.

Q3 The article's Japanese names are not in the game ▼
A

The source article explains in Japanese and includes English building and resource names. Japanese is not on the official Steam language list, so compare English names.

Q4 Another clan has different buildings or worker limits ▼
A

Clans have unique replacements and modifiers. Read the selected clan's description first and distinguish it from this guide's Stag and common Viking-building examples.
