My Time at Portia Equipment and Materials: From Research to Processing
Plan starter furnaces, grinders and cutters, then prepare for iron and steel processing. Work backward from equipment requirements, base quantities, fuel and processing times to find the missing step.
Edition: Normal play in the original My Time at Portia PC Steam base game, app 666140. Covers the introduction, early town-building requests and basic early-to-mid-game workshop equipment. Consoles, mobile, sequels, mods and the late-game Factory are outside scope.
Verification scope: Official product pages, announcements and public guides compared on 2026-10-04. No game launch, current build-number check or full Japanese UI comparison was performed. Numerical tables use unmodified base requirements.

Read tables as per-item, unmodified, in-game-time values
Worktable material reductions and relationship construction discounts are excluded. Times are base in-game processing times. Game-speed settings and machine types can change real-world waiting times or displayed values.
Wide tables scroll horizontally.
| Check | How to read this page | Common mistake |
|---|---|---|
| Quantity | Tables generally show the cost of 1 finished item | Assuming 5 raw bars alone will make the 5 plates needed |
| Equipment | Read the processing machine's name before the item name | Putting Iron Ore in a Stone Furnace does not unlock iron recipes |
| Modifiers | The Worktable's Artisan reduction and construction discounts are separate | A lower displayed cost than the base table is not necessarily wrong |
| Fuel | Operating fuel is required in addition to recipe materials | Mistaking the 3 Wood used to make Charcoal for remaining furnace fuel |
| Time | Use in-game processing time | Do not read 50% game speed as twice-as-fast real-time production |

The Grinder, Cutter and Basic Skiver use Power Stones. They can stop for lack of fuel even with enough ingredients, so check remaining fuel together with the completion estimate.
Do not confuse regular research with mission diagrams
- After obtaining Data Discs, speak to Petra at the Research Center and check regular research options
- Request research using the disc amount for the desired machine's group. You may not be able to choose the order of diagrams within that group.
- While research is underway, check mail for progress. When the diagram arrives, compare the handbook and required equipment tiers.
- For story-mission diagrams, follow that mission's dialogue and disc quantity. Regular research can proceed separately.

| Situation | What to check | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| You can give additional discs | Is this research acceleration or a new research request? | Read the option before handing them over |
| You received a different diagram from the one wanted | Is it another diagram in the same disc-cost group? | Check the received diagram and request the next regular research |
| A mission diagram has not arrived | Dedicated dialogue, specified disc quantity and mail collection | Donating to regular research alone does not complete it |

The Research Center table is marked as based on old Steam version 2.0.137299 and needing an update. It is not used as a schedule guaranteeing a particular machine on a particular day.

Individual tables list Civil Furnace research as 2 days and Industrial Cutter/Furnace as 4 days. However, baseline versions and acceleration differ, so no fixed delivery day is guaranteed here. Civil Furnace can supply steel even before you own an Industrial Furnace.
Choose Worktable and Assembly Station upgrades
- Select the equipment to upgrade in the A&G Construction catalog
- Distinguish Move from Upgrade and check materials and price
- If displayed values differ from the base table, check relationship discounts and other modifiers
- Recheck the upgraded equipment's level and target recipe
Wide tables scroll horizontally.
| Upgrade target | Base cost | Main change | Check first |
|---|---|---|---|
| Worktable Lv1→Lv2 | 2,000 Gols+Wooden Board20+Old Parts5 | More advanced Worktable recipes | The part's required level; board processing and component stocks |
| Assembly Station Lv1→Lv2 | 5,000 Gols+Iron Bar20+Stone Brick20 | Supports larger assemblies | The handbook's station-level requirement and free yard space |
| Add another machine | Assembly materials and placement space for that machine | Run a different process in parallel | Can you supply raw materials and fuel to both machines? |

Upgrade Kits are for tools, not A&G workshop-equipment upgrades themselves. Listed base costs exclude material reductions.
Work back one step from a missing material
Wide tables scroll horizontally.
| Missing material | Gathering / processing location | Required tool / equipment | Exception |
|---|---|---|---|
| Copper/ Bronze Bar | Copper and tin from early ruins → furnace | Pickaxe, Stone Furnace and Wood fuel | Copper alone cannot make bronze |
| Old Parts | Search for relics in early ruins | Relic Scanner and Pickaxe | No guaranteed location or day for a specific part |
| Hardwood Plank | Hardwood from suitable trees → cutting | Bronze Axe、Civil Cutter | Do not substitute Wooden Boards |
| Marble Plank | Marble from surface rocks → cutting | Suitable Pickaxe and Civil Cutter | Prepare a Bronze Pickaxe for larger dark rocks |
| Bronze Pipe / Bronze Plate | Smelt Bronze Bars first | Pipes at the Grinder, plates at the Civil Cutter | The same bar material goes into different machines |
| Carbon Steel Bar | Prepare Iron Ore and Charcoal | Civil Furnace or higher | Charcoal is a recipe material; Wood is furnace fuel |
| You have the diagram but cannot make the advanced machine | Check the level requirements of every component | Worktable upgrade, furnace and cutter | Learning a diagram does not also complete its prerequisite machines |

Calculate quantities and processing time before queuing
The following is practice in making estimates. These are original hypothetical examples using published recipes, not a record of actually accepting these jobs.
Wide tables scroll horizontally.
| Hypothetical order | Material calculation | Time for this process only | Excluded |
|---|---|---|---|
| Make 4 Copper Pipes with 1 Grinder | Copper Bar2×4=8 | 1 hour × 4 = 4 hours | Bar-smelting time, fuel and travel |
| Make 5 Bronze Plates with 1 Civil Cutter | Bronze Bar3×5=15 | 2 hours × 5 = 10 hours | Prior smelting of 15 Bronze Bars |
| Make those 15 Bronze Bars with 1 Stone Furnace | Copper Ore60+Tin Ore15 | 3 hours 30 minutes × 15 = 52 hours 30 minutes | Fuel shortages, waiting to collect output and other recipes |
| Split the same process between 2 machines | Allocate 8 to one and 7 to the other | Longer queue: 3 hours 30 minutes × 8 = 28 hours | Construction materials, placement, fuel and the next process for both machines |

A Stone Furnace queues up to 10 items at a time and holds 20 Wood of fuel, enough for 20 hours. The 15-item example totals processing time assuming further queueing and mid-process refueling of each furnace; it is not a prediction of unattended completion. The final row assumes two identical furnaces can run simultaneously. Without sufficient materials and fuel, there is no time saving. Judge whether to accept a commission by downstream processing and delivery as well as a single step's duration.
Frequently asked questions
I upgraded the Worktable but cannot make a large assembly
The Worktable and Assembly Station upgrade separately. Check both the handbook's required Assembly Station level and the Worktable level needed for the components.
Can I make bronze pipes and plates in the same machine?
With the standard early machines, pipes use the Grinder and plates use the Civil Cutter. Both require Bronze Bars first.
Should I research a better furnace first to save time?
Obtaining the diagram first may still leave you without equipment to make its assembly materials. Check the processing chain and fix the step currently blocking you.
I added the Wood for Charcoal, but the furnace stops
Wood consumed as an ingredient is separate from Wood consumed to run the furnace. Check and refill the fuel supply as well as the recipe quantity.
