My Time at Portia Beginner Guide: Tools, Assembly and Delivery
Break down gathering with tools, crafting at the Worktable, machine processing and Assembly Station work. Check inventory, fuel and recipients against the PC version's requirements.
Edition: Normal play in the original My Time at Portia PC Steam base game, app 666140. Covers the introduction, early town-building requests and basic early-to-mid-game workshop equipment. Consoles, mobile, sequels, mods and the late-game Factory are outside scope.
Verification scope: Official product pages, announcements and public guides compared on 2026-10-04. No game launch, current build-number check or full Japanese UI comparison was performed. Numerical tables use unmodified base requirements.

Read the on-screen action before pressing
Keys are published default PC examples. Use your in-game remappings instead if changed. The same key can have different functions in ruins and at the workshop.
Wide tables scroll horizontally.
| Intended action | Default PC example | Check first |
|---|---|---|
| Talk / open equipment / gather | E | Approach the target and check for the desired action prompt |
| Use a tool / attack | Left-click | Does the selected hotbar tool match the tree or rock you are targeting? |
| Dodge | Right-click | Separate from gathering or talking; check nearby enemies and footing |
| Check inventory / map / missions | I / M / L | When following a mission, read its current stage as well as material names |
| Read the Assembly Handbook | G | Distinguish viewing a diagram from placing its model on the Assembly Station |
| Find relics in ruins | F | Aim at a light point and check the distance before digging |

For hold actions such as picking up or placing equipment, read the target's prompt. This guide does not mix PC and controller buttons in a way that confuses the two.
Three equipment types use different crafting methods
Wide tables scroll horizontally.
| Equipment | Where materials must be | Action | How to confirm completion |
|---|---|---|---|
| Worktable | Uses items in your inventory and workshop storage boxes | Choose category → item → quantity | Crafts immediately when requirements are met |
| Assembly Station / manual assembly | Move required materials to the hotbar and select them | Begin the build through the handbook, then attach materials to the corresponding translucent components | Collect the finished item after completing every component |
| Furnace | Separate recipe materials from Wood used as fuel | Choose an item and quantity, add fuel and wait | The timer advances and finished items can be collected |
| Grinder / Cutter | Processed materials such as bars, plus Power Stone fuel | Select the process and check raw materials and fuel | Check whether the finished item, rather than its raw material, has increased |

Level 3 automatic assembly is a separate feature. Machines using storage does not mean manual assembly requires no material selection.
Check these before adding equipment
Wide tables scroll horizontally.
| Symptom | Required tool / equipment | Action sequence | Confirmation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Raw materials are available, but an assembly component will not attach | Manual Assembly Station | Read whether logs or boards are required → put the item in the hotbar → select it → interact with the matching component | The component becomes solid |
| The item is missing from the recipe list | Relevant processing machine / Worktable | Check machine name → workstation level → learned diagram or recipe | The target item can be selected |
| Processing has been stopped since yesterday | Furnace or Power Stone-powered machine | Check fuel → add the correct fuel → watch remaining time | The timer and output count advance |
| You finished an assembly but cannot begin another | Assembly Station | Collect the finished item to clear the station, then choose the next diagram | The next translucent model appears |
| Striking a tree or rock does not work | Axe or Pickaxe | Check the tool's supported target size → try a smaller target or a better tool | Gathered resources enter your inventory |
| You thought production was finished, but the quantity is insufficient | Processing machine and inventory | Collect machine outputs → compare the request's item names and quantities | All delivery items are in your bag |

Distinguish surface gathering from ruin mining
Wide tables scroll horizontally.
| Wanted item / situation | First location / tool | Action to try | Caution |
|---|---|---|---|
| Initial wood and stone | Gatherable materials around the workshop | Collect loose items with a prompt → use them to make tools | Do not try to break large trees or rocks with starter tools |
| Copper and tin ore | Abandoned Ruins #1 and Pickaxe | Dig according to deposit colors and check the names of collected items | Separate this from repeatedly mining surface rocks |
| Relics such as Old Parts | The Relic Scanner in the same ruins | F → aim at a light point → remember its location and close the scanner → dig toward it | You cannot select a fixed item inside a light point |
| You dug deep and the exit is far away | Ruin jumping / movement functions | Hold jump to use the jetpack and check the map and exit prompt | It is not equipment you can take out of the ruins |
| You cannot re-enter the same ruins | Pass information at the entrance | Check your weekly pass expiry and Gols | Do not treat the first-visit discount as the permanent entrance fee |

There is no guarantee of which attempt will yield a particular part or how many you can mine in one day.
Use boxes for storage, and inventory for delivery and assembly
- Separate workshop boxes by material type and name them. This is an organizational example to reduce searching time.
- Open a box and use the switching list. Sort All moves matching items into boxes that already contain them, so choose a location for the first copy.
- Move processed materials for manual assembly to the hotbar and select them. Also collect completed commission items into your bag before leaving.
- Finally, check stocks in boxes and machines separately from delivery quantities in your bag
This guide does not claim that a town resident receives finished items directly from your storage box.
Follow acceptance and delivery through the mission screen
Wide tables scroll horizontally.
| Equipment / request | Prerequisite | Material / time check | Recovery if it fails |
|---|---|---|---|
| Regular board commission | Complete the workshop introduction and have no active regular commission | Check item, quantity, deadline and processing equipment before accepting | You cannot take another if you already accepted one that day; wait for the next weekday's postings |
| Story-related board commission | The relevant mission has begun | Distinguish it from the regular daily allowance | Do not assume you can hold several of the same type simultaneously |
| Delivery to a person | Have the specified finished item in your bag | Talk to the requester and choose the mission-delivery option | Do not give it as a gift; recheck recipient, quantity and mission stage |
| Installation at a location | Carry the finished assembled item | Check the placement action at the location shown on the map or mission | Check whether a report is still required after installation |
| You cannot talk to the person you must report to | They must not be occupied by sleep, an event or similar activity | Check their schedule and map, then return when they can talk | Do not leave delivery until the final night before the deadline |

Check time, health and stamina separately
Wide tables scroll horizontally.
| Situation | First action | Display to check |
|---|---|---|
| Insufficient morning stamina recovery | Repair every damaged floor section in the house; total Wood required: 36 | Recovery the next morning; reserve this Wood separately from furnace fuel |
| The day feels too rushed | You can lower game speed in settings | In-game time also passes more slowly; this does not speed up processing in real time |
| You want to read material requirements while outside | Open the inventory or menus to plan | Use the pause in time while menus are open |
| Health and stamina differ after mining | Read item descriptions for the recovery effect you need | Do not use an HP-only recovery effect as stamina recovery |
| You want to stop playing | Check the day-based save created by sleeping and the date/time of the day you will load | Do not assume every action taken that day before stopping has been saved |

The basic active day runs from 7:00 to 3:00 the next morning. Deleting saves or overwriting external files is not part of the recovery procedure.
Frequently asked questions
Materials in a box cannot be used for assembly
For manual assembly, move the specified material to the hotbar, select it and attach it to the matching component. Distinguish this from machine storage access or higher-level automatic assembly.
I gave discs for research, but I still cannot build immediately
Acceptance, research time, receiving a diagram by mail and preparing the required equipment are separate stages. Also distinguish regular research from mission-specific research.
Does giving the finished item as a gift count as delivery?
Use the mission-delivery option. Put the item in your bag, talk to the specified recipient and confirm mission completion. Gifting is processed separately.
I finished the previous commission but cannot take another
Regular board commissions have both a one-active-commission limit and a one-per-day acceptance limit. Story commissions are separate, so check which kind you are trying to accept.
