Lethal Company equipment and ship control: buying, charging, and radar
Check delivery, power, and charging after buying flashlights and radios. Covers radar target switching, exit guidance, and remote control of coded devices, including solo/co-op differences.
Edition: PC Steam app 1966720, standard release branch, no mods; basic shifts on a new save. Default PC keyboard/mouse bindings are examples; if you changed them, follow the on-screen prompts. Solo play and co-op for up to 4 players are addressed separately.
Verification scope: Checked October 4, 2026. Uses basic mechanics from V80, The Blooming Update, onward; official announcements confirm its standard release. The official text alone does not establish the latest internal patch number, so this does not assert V81 or another version. Beta, major mods, and translation-mod features are excluded.

Check price before buying, then delivery and charge afterward
Use the current store price and total as your basis. The table's amounts are references for standard prices, not guarantees of sale prices or future prices. Old guides list Pro-flashlight at 25 and radios at 12, while the current wiki checked here lists 28 and 10.

| Equipment/action | Checked cost/requirement | Input/use | Charge/limitations | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Flashlight | Standard reference: 15 credits | store → flashlight → confirm. After collection, use LMB to turn it on. | Uses a battery; recharge at the ship charger | Illuminate footing and passages in darkness |
| Pro-flashlight | Current-source reference: 28. Prioritize the purchase screen. | pro-flashlight → confirmation → collection. Turn on with LMB. | Do not confuse it with the old 25 price. Uses a battery. | Brighter, longer-lasting illumination |
| Walkie-talkie | Current-source reference: 10. Both parties need one. | Q toggles power; speak while holding LMB | Receiver also needs power and battery | Brief updates between explorers and ship |
| Lockpicker | Standard reference: 20. For ordinary locked doors. | Aim at an ordinary locked door and use LMB. Wait about 30 seconds. | After unlocking, retrieve the dropped device with E. Not for secure doors. | Open locked doors without using a key |
| Shovel | Standard reference: 30. Uses a regular slot. | Hold it and check the on-screen use prompt | Ineligible for the utility slot. Effectiveness against every enemy is not guaranteed. | Melee actions in suitable situations |
| Ship radar/terminal | Built-in equipment; no separate portable device required | view monitor、switch | Do not confuse targets. Your voice is not automatically relayed to the field. | Guide teammates to positions, exits, and devices in co-op |

Ordered portable items arrive by delivery. Old and new prices coexist in sources, so do not plan to spend your entire budget based on these amounts alone. Reread the terminal total before confirm.
Charge and check one held tool at a time
If it will not turn on, separate power and battery checks before immediately buying another. Flashlight activation and radio transmission use different controls.
- Select the tool to charge using the wheel or the displayed dedicated-slot action. Check the currently selected item's name.
- Approach the wall charger inside the ship and press E as prompted.
- Wait for charging to finish and confirm the battery display has recovered on the tool returned to your hand.
- For a flashlight, turn it on with LMB. For a radio, power it on with Q, ask the receiver to check power too, then hold LMB for a short transmission.
Switching to another item does not necessarily turn off a lit flashlight. Preserve enough charge for the return trip and replenish it when you return to the ship.
First say whose radar view you are watching
V70's radar update added compass directions and a line toward the exit. Distinguish the exit direction shown on the map from the actual traversable passages.
- Enter view monitor at the terminal and read the current tracked target.
- Use switch to change targets and confirm the name matches the person you are guiding. Do not simultaneously give different directions to several people.
- Tell them “I am watching [name]” and align compass directions with nearby branches. Describing only their left/right reverses directions when they turn.
- Use the exit line as a clue to guide their return. Ask the explorer to confirm physical doors, traps, drops, and other obstacles too.
- When the target changes rooms, reread the updated display before speaking. In danger, give one short instruction at a time—stop, return, or wait—instead of a long explanation.
Seeing a face camera or map is not the same as knowing every enemy and foothold. Do not declare a route safe based solely on radar.
Remotely control only devices with alphanumeric codes
The terminal does not open every ordinary locked door. Use identification codes on the map or device to confirm the target.
Wide tables scroll horizontally.
| Target | Field/ship check | Example action | What to check afterward |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coded secure door | The code on the physical door matches the radar code | Enter that code at the terminal and press Enter | Did its open/closed state change, and could the teammate pass? |
| Compatible traps such as turrets/mines | Radar code and intended crossing point | After entering the code, report the temporary disable to the field | The disable is not permanent. Move away expecting reactivation. |
| Ordinary locked door | Locked handle and whether a code exists | Check whether a key or Lockpicker applies at the door | Pass through the opened door and retrieve the tool |
| Exit-direction guidance | Selected player and compass direction | view monitor → switch if needed | The displayed route matches the guided player's path |

Confirm the visible target rather than guessing codes. This does not assert exact disable durations or that every trap uses the same disabling mechanism.
Separate power, held-item, and target problems
If equipment is present but unusable, change one condition at a time and observe the result before buying more.
Wide tables scroll horizontally.
| Use problem | Held item/battery/terminal display | Action to try | Version difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flashlight will not turn on | Selected item and battery | Hold it and use LMB; recharge aboard if charge is low | Do not bring mod-added shortcut keys into the standard version |
| Cannot hear the radio | Both parties' power, batteries, and input microphones | Power on with Q → short test while holding LMB | Do not treat the old price of 12 versus current-source 10 as an input malfunction |
| Charging does not solve it | Are you holding the tool being charged? | Reselect the target, press E, and check the battery change | Charging does not fix tools that do not use batteries |
| Item will not enter the dedicated slot | Is it a purchased item, and is it eligible? | Organize dedicated HUD and regular slots separately | Added in V80. Not an unrestricted slot for shovels or scrap. |
| Monitor shows the wrong teammate | Tracked target name | Change with switch and tell the player their name | Appearance differs from pre-V70 radar diagrams |
| A code will not open an ordinary door | Does the device have an identification code? | For an ordinary lock, try a key/Lockpicker at the door | Not a universal unlock command for all doors |
| Trap started again | Time and display since the code action | Recheck from a safe position before crossing | Do not interpret a temporary disable as permanent destruction |

Frequently asked questions
Can a radio transmit just by carrying it?
Receiving requires power and battery. To speak, hold LMB on the radio in your hand. Q toggles power. Check both sender and receiver.
Does switching away from a flashlight save battery?
A flashlight left on can keep shining after you select another item. Hold it, confirm it is powered off, and judge by remaining charge.
Equipment prices differ from older articles
Distinguish updates from sales. This check found old prices of Pro-flashlight 25/radio 12 alongside newer-source prices of 28/10. Prioritize the current store and order-confirmation amounts.
Can a ship operator open every door?
Remote operation applies to compatible devices with identification codes. Do not confuse keys or Lockpickers for ordinary locked doors with terminal code input.
