Invokyr Dice Guide: Choosing Single-Use Tools and Checking Before Throwing

Available in Early Access: early-game guide · Updated 2026-10-10

Dice you find are single-use tools with risks as well as helpful effects. Before using one, check whether it solves your current problem and whether you can act afterward, instead of throwing it simply because it is rare.

Separate progression dice from exploration dice

Start by distinguishing the board die that moves the piece from special dice found in the mansion. Using a special die alone does not complete the board objective.

Special dice found in the mansion are consumed after one use. Before testing an effect, decide whether you need it now or should save it to bring statues back.

Choose an effect by its purpose

The English names below are reference labels for identifying items, not assertions of official Japanese UI names. Before using a die, check whether its actual description matches.

This table organizes major uses, not every type's complete effects. Effect amounts, durations, success rates and every unfavorable face result are not fixed here.

English reference nameMain useDecision before use
Heal DieHelp with healingShare which teammate needs healing and where to use it
Fire DieStart a fire near the landing pointKeep the throw location separate from your escape route
Freeze DieStop the movement of a target it hitsDecide the route you will take after it hits
Teleport DieMove the thrower to the landing pointCheck whether you can continue or return from the destination
Scanner DieFind statues, players and monsters through wallsDistinguish a revealed location from a physically traversable route
Thread DieProduce a ball of thread that heads toward the game roomUse when you need a route back and check nearby hazards too

This table does not guarantee favorable results or effectiveness against every monster. Prioritize current item descriptions.

Before throwing, decide the purpose, location and next action

Special dice can heal, hide you or hinder pursuit, but may not work as intended. Holding one does not make you safe; plan how to react to a bad result too.

For landing-point effects in particular, being able to throw somewhere visible does not mean you can move safely there. Consider the team's return route, including avoiding blocking a statue carrier's path.

  1. Choose one purpose: healing, opening a route, movement or finding the way back.
  2. Check whether the held die's description suits that purpose.
  3. Check the landing point, teammate positions and direction to take afterward.
  4. In cooperation, say what you will use and where.
  5. After using it, observe the result before moving, rather than immediately wasting another die.

When unsure whether to save it, ask whether it is needed to return

Using tools repeatedly without understanding their purpose may leave none for later. Conversely, hoarding them when you cannot complete an objective does not help progression. Judge by their relevance to the current objective and return route.

Diagnose effects that do not match expectations

Distinguish misreading the target or landing point, an unfavorable outcome and using pre-update information. One failure does not establish that all dice are ineffective.

Shortly after launch, fixes addressed scanner/invisibility interaction and a gathering-type die's transfers during area changes. For similar symptoms, check update status before recording the issue.

Sources differ on the gathering-type die's English name, so this guide does not settle its proper name or detailed transfer targets.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Q1 Can dice I find be used repeatedly? ▼
A

Special dice found in the mansion are single-use. Distinguish them from board-progression dice and devices that generate dice.

Q2 Are favorable-effect probabilities fixed? ▼
A

This page does not provide probabilities. As every type's unfavorable outcomes and current probabilities have not been checked, the guide advises against assuming guaranteed success.

Q3 Can Fire Die defeat every monster? ▼
A

This guide does not claim effectiveness against every monster. Starting a fire and an enemy's resistance or defeat method are separate information. Consider securing an escape route too.
