Invokyr Cooperation Guide: Lobbies, Roles and Save Checks
Available in Early Access: early-game guide · Updated 2026-10-10
Adding players alone does not resolve statue counts or confusion about the return route. Share who checks the objective, who carries items back and where to return. Check the host's save information before starting and before quitting too.
First choose the host and which save to start
Online cooperation supports up to 6 players, with public lobbies and Steam invitations. Before joining, check whether you are starting a new game or continuing a previous one.
When hosting, save selection opens even without an existing save. New Save starts a new game. To continue, choose the intended existing save.
- Choose the host and whether this is a new game or a continuation.
- The host selects New Save or the intended existing save.
- Teammates join through an invitation or lobby.
- Proceed once everyone understands the current objective and return direction.
Selecting New Save differs from deleting an existing save. This page does not explain deletion or transfer of guest-side saves.
Assign roles for the current objective, rather than treating them as fixed classes
Temporarily assigning objective checks, exploration and transport makes coordination easier than everyone running in different directions. The table gives cooperation examples, not in-game classes or exclusive abilities.
You can change the plan if a statue's held effect makes transport difficult. Rather than pushing on because transport was assigned to you, share the statue's location and the difficulty.
| Example role | Responsibility | What to share |
|---|---|---|
| Objective check | Read board guidance and required statue count | Current goal, delivered count and remaining tasks |
| Exploration | Search unchecked rooms for statues and tools | Location, passage hazards and turns on the way back |
| Transport | Bring statues back to the board | Held effect, return route and whether help is needed |
| Tool support | Know which dice help with healing, movement and disruption | Tool, landing point and movement after use |
Keep reports brief: location, status, next action
"Found it" or "Danger" alone does not help teammates in other rooms decide. Share the location as far as you know, what you hold or your condition, and whether you will return or keep exploring.
The mansion changes with board progression, so sharing the previous round's route is insufficient. Refer to the current room and make uncertainty clear when a location is only a guess.
| Situation | Report elements | Example report |
|---|---|---|
| Picked up a statue | Location, changes after pickup and return plan | I have one statue. The controls changed, so I will put it down here briefly |
| Using a tool | Type, use location and action afterward | I will use a disruption die in this passage. I will wait for the result before moving |
| Lost | Last known location and what is unclear | I know the route from the board to the first fork. The way back beyond that is unclear |
| Returned | Return, delivery and objective display | I am back at the board and delivered the statue. I will check the remaining requirement |
Before quitting, check time since the last save
The current pause screen displays time since the run was last saved. This line appears after the first checkpoint; its absence immediately after starting alone does not establish a save bug.
A Game Saved notification also appears on saving. The host should know which save to continue next time and check the save display before quitting. This guide does not describe freely saving anywhere.
- Check whether you have reached the first checkpoint.
- Check whether a save notification appeared.
- Read time since last save on the pause screen.
- Share with the host which existing save to use next time before quitting.
A save notification does not guarantee independent guest saves or restoration of every state after a disconnect.
If joining fails, first check updates and the session you are joining
Shortly after launch, connection handling and the lobby list were fixed, and errors for outdated Steam clients improved. If joining fails, first check both host and guest game updates, Steam updates and the selected session.
If it still fails, record the error, whether you used an invite or public lobby, and when it failed. Trying one joining method at a time makes diagnosis easier than changing several settings together.
| Symptom | First check | What to record |
|---|---|---|
| Cannot join through an invitation | Steam/game update status and invitation destination | Error display and host identity |
| Cannot find the lobby | Lobby-list refresh and intended session | Whether an invitation works |
| A new game started instead of the intended continuation | The save selected by the host | Whether the intended save was selected instead of New Save |
| The save-time line is missing | Whether the first checkpoint has been passed | Save notification and current progress |
