Check these before collecting
- Confirm whether you used Original or Updated for your progress.
- Check collected-item indicators in chapter selection and choose one chapter to revisit.
- After collecting, finish the chapter, then check chapter selection and your item list again.
Do not assume picking something up means it is saved. Check the result screen and lists. These steps cover confirmed targets, not a complete table of every weapon location or score threshold.

Answer 01: pickup and unlock types
Wide tables scroll horizontally.
| Unnamed target | Prerequisite | Action and confirmation | Revisit / deadline |
|---|---|---|---|
| Collectible A: puzzle pieces | Reach the relevant chapter | Right-click to pick up the small purple square, then check chapter selection and the Puzzle screen after finishing the chapter | One in the Prelude and each of Chapters 1–15, for 16 total. Collectible through chapter selection |
| Collectible B: masks found on site | Reach the relevant chapter | Inspect the local corpse or box. After finishing the chapter, check whether the mask can be selected | Collect before ending the chapter; revisit if missed |
| Unlock C: high-score masks | Play the corresponding chapter | Check the mask-unlock message on the result screen | Do not assume merely finishing is enough. Individual score requirements are not guaranteed here |
| Unlock D: weapons | Accumulate score | Check the unlock message after a chapter. Unlocking a weapon and recording its use are separate | Sources checked for unlocks at each accumulated 50,000 points. Fixed spawn locations are not guaranteed |

Answer 02: checking pickup locations
Wide tables scroll horizontally.
| Unnamed pickup number / chapter | Location landmarks | Action | Pickup check / revisit |
|---|---|---|---|

| 02/No Talk | Kitchen, near the sink and stove to the north | Deal with enemies in the room, then check the floor | Finish the chapter and check its collected-item indicator. If unchanged, revisit in the same version |
| 03/Overdose | Upstairs southeast bathroom, near the bathtub | Use the bathroom's shape to match the location even if you entered by different stairs | Finish the chapter and check its collected-item indicator. If unchanged, revisit in the same version |
| 04/Decadence | Right of the large upstairs dining table | Pick it up after upstairs combat and before going down | Finish the chapter and check its collected-item indicator. If unchanged, revisit in the same version |

Wide tables scroll horizontally.

Answer 04: checking pickup locations
Wide tables scroll horizontally.
| Unnamed pickup number / chapter | Location landmarks | Action | Pickup check / revisit |
|---|---|---|---|
| 09/Push It | Beyond the right staircase, upper-right of the dark area's dance floor | Check the right staircase instead of continuing to search the other upstairs area | Finish the chapter and check its collected-item indicator. If unchanged, revisit in the same version |
| 10/Crackdown | North end of upstairs, near the elevator used by SWAT | Collection becomes harder after the raid starts. Plan to visit the spot first, then take the return route after collecting | Finish the chapter and check its collected-item indicator. If unchanged, revisit in the same version |
| 11/Hot & Heavy | Beyond the eastern stairs, southwest of the four central rooms | Inspect the floor near the pool. Do not confuse it with the mask in the northwest branch | Finish the chapter and check its collected-item indicator. If unchanged, revisit in the same version |
| 12/Deadline | An intermediate upstairs floor, dark southwest projection room | Inspect near the table before taking the next elevator | Finish the chapter and check its collected-item indicator. If unchanged, revisit in the same version |

| 13/Trauma | First hospital area, southeast bathroom | Move when the patrol leaves and secure rest points along the way | Finish the chapter and check its collected-item indicator. If unchanged, revisit in the same version |
| 14/Assault | Entrance floor, southwest bathroom | Clear nearby enemies and check the floor | Finish the chapter and check its collected-item indicator. If unchanged, revisit in the same version |
| 15/Vengeance | Topmost combat area, bathroom north of the stairs | Use the final stairs and bathroom as landmarks instead of source-dependent second/third-floor numbering | Finish the chapter and check its collected-item indicator. If unchanged, revisit in the same version |
| 16/Showdown | Room west of the first entrance | Pick it up after the entrance fight and before taking the stairs | Finish the chapter and check its collected-item indicator. If unchanged, revisit in the same version |

Answer 06: equipment found on site
Wide tables scroll horizontally.
| Unnamed target / mask | Prerequisite | Location and action | Pickup confirmation | Revisit / caution |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| M01/Earl | Reach upstairs in Overdose | Inspect the corpse near the record player in the lower room | Mask list after finishing the chapter | Bullet-resistance bugs have been reported. Do not rely on it for guaranteed survival |
| M02/Jones | Finish combat in Full House | Take the crowbar near the entrance, circle around outside before entering the car, open the manhole and collect below | Mask list and Sewer Alligator status | If you entered the car first, use chapter selection. Do not discard the crowbar |
| M03/Carl | Entrance floor in Push It | Inspect the corpse on the central dance floor | Mask list after finishing the chapter | Check that you start with a drill on the next mission |
| M04/Jake | Northwest branch in Hot & Heavy | Inspect the corpse farther inside on the side with the yin-yang rug | Mask list after finishing the chapter | Separate from the puzzle piece in the eastern branch |
| M05/Richter | Top of Assault | Inspect the desk or room with a mask on the northeast side | Mask list after finishing the chapter | Sources differ on direction labels. First match the floor on the holding-room side |
| M06/Charlie | Conversation at the back of Safehouse | After the conversation, inspect near the cooking equipment in the upper left | Mask list after finishing the chapter | This is not a requirement for the playable character to wear the mask there |
| M07/Phil | Enter the basement in Resolution | Inspect the box beyond the conversation partners | Mask list after finishing the chapter | Check the location under both normal and extra-requirement progress |

Answer 07: distinguish useful effects
This table checks effects suited to actions you want to try, rather than ranking the strongest masks. Confirm high-score mask unlocks on the corresponding chapter's result screen.
Wide tables scroll horizontally.
| Mask | Scope of the effect checked | Unlock requirement | Version / exceptions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Richard | No special effect | Available initially | Useful for comparing the same inputs during practice |
| Rasmus | Makes hidden puzzle pieces easier to spot | High score in The Metro | Does not automatically collect them |
| Tony | Bare hands become lethal against normal enemies and dogs | High score in No Talk | Does not mean bare hands work on large enemies |
| Don Juan | Doors kill normal enemies they hit | High score in Decadence | Does not mean doors also kill dogs or large enemies |
| Dennis | Start with a knife | High score in Full House | Does not infinitely replenish a dropped knife |
| Ted | Dogs do not attack you | High score in Neighbors | Dogs do not disappear from the enemy count for clearing normal combat |
| Peter | Reduces gunfire noise | High score in Deadline | Does not completely disable nearby reactions or being seen |
| Zack | Extends the window for continuing a combo | High score in Assault | No fixed extension in seconds is given |
| Brandon | Faster movement | High score in Fun & Games | Practice again because your usual approach distance changes too |
| Carl/Richter | Start with a drill / silenced Uzi | On-site pickups in Answer 06 | Effect when the corresponding mask is selected |

Rufus/Earl bullet counts, Rami's ammunition multiplier and Rick/Louie's internal values have not been measured in current Updated, so they are not used for performance comparisons.

Answer 08: do not confuse weapon unlocks and achievement records
Wide tables scroll horizontally.
| Goal | Required action | How to check | Caution |
|---|---|---|---|
| Unlock weapons | Accumulate score in normal chapters | New-weapon message on the result screen | Locked weapons may not be in the normal spawn pool, however long you search |
| Use different weapon types | After unlocking, actually use them to attack | Check weapon-use achievement status separately | Holding, throwing and finishing may not count as the same record |
| Collect / wear equipment | Collect it to add it to the list, then select it and begin a mission if required | Zoo Keeper and Sounds of Animals Fighting have separate requirements | Being on the list does not mean a wearing requirement is complete |
| Complete ground-finishing types | Perform finishing actions with different situations and held weapons | Always On Top progress | Checking every applicable animation is outside this article's scope |

Answer 09: extra requirements after collection
- Collect all 16 pieces and arrange the letters in Puzzle on the menu. The answer is I WAS BORN IN THE USA
- Check that letters lock into correct slots and that the completed puzzle responds
- Continue or revisit Chapter 19: Resolution, and inspect the computer above ground before going into the basement
- Then finish the basement conversation and return to the motorcycle. Check the extra-requirement ending and Nigel unlock
- For the normal outcome, finish the same chapter without accessing the terminal. Do not treat puzzle completion alone as permanently removing the normal outcome
This guide does not explain the conversations or the ending's meaning. Immediate achievement pop-ups and fixes for old-version bugs are not guaranteed. Louie corresponds to the normal outcome, Nigel to the extra requirements.
Frequently asked questions
I picked it up, but the indicator did not change
Check whether you finished the chapter afterward and are checking in the same Original/Updated version. Each target's confirmation steps are in its collapsed table.
Replaying a chapter does not add a mask
Some items are found on site; others unlock based on results. First check the acquisition type in Answer 01 so you are not repeating the wrong procedure.
I do not survive as the mask description suggests
Distinguish descriptions from how bullets actually hit, version differences and reported bugs. This guide does not guarantee durability; it assumes avoiding damage.
Does this cover every weapon use and achievement?
No. It covers checked pickup locations and representative acquisition requirements. Every weapon spawn, finishing animation and achievement-bug fix has not been tested.
