Drop Duchy Guide | Placement, Unit Matchups, and Card Upgrades

Released: Basic Guide / Covers Steam 1.2 · Updated 2026-10-12

Simply filling empty spaces will not win. Place the next block while considering terrain used by buildings, soldiers you might give the enemy, and which unit type you want to preserve for combat.

Follow Placement Decisions Through to Combat

Falling pieces include terrain and buildings. Prepare terrain that meets building activation requirements, produce resources and soldiers, and enter the next battle. The run ends when your castle's health runs out, so beware of placements focused only on production.

  1. Read the building description and check its relevant terrain and range.
  2. Create friendly production conditions without giving enemy buildings too much favorable terrain.
  3. Before combat, check troop numbers, unit types, and merge destinations.
  4. After winning, choose needed resources, card upgrades, and the next region.

These guides help separate losses caused by weak placement from losses caused by combat decisions.

Base Game and Additional Factions

The base factions are The Duchy, The Republic, and The Order. The Tribe and The North belong to additional content. The North has its own combat system, so do not apply common troop controls to every faction unconditionally.

Free base-game updates include Undo and Ascension. Buying an additional faction is separate from receiving free features.
