The main character does not need level grinding
- Increase maximum HP with Hearts, POWER with Power Sources and GUARD with Guard Sources. The main character does not level up simply by defeating a certain number of enemies.
- Summon a fairy, defeat enemies and let it collect Fairy Orbs. Experience goes to the fairy that picks up the orb, so keep the one you want to train summoned.
- You can summon up to two fairies at once, and their maximum level is 19. Combine their roles and watch for different fairies that share the same type of Jade.
13 spells: where to obtain them and when to use them
| Spell | Where to obtain it | What to know first |
|---|---|---|
| Magic Shot | Tower of Light, 2F | Your first ranged attack. Hit the chest containing the Crossroads Key twice. |
| Magic Missile | Tower of Light, 3F | A projectile that heads toward nearby enemies. Do not leave it behind during early exploration. |
| Magic Shield | Arcs magic shop | A support spell separate from your shield. Select it on the spell-switching screen. |
| Impulse | Arcs magic shop | Learn it by buying its medallion. An option for attacking on the ground. |
| Bound | Arcs magic shop | Learn it by buying its medallion. Check it when adding more projectile spells. |
| Slow | Arcs magic shop | Slows enemy movement. A support option for limiting movement in the final fight. |
| Flame Ring | Toronto magic shop | Learn it by buying its medallion. An option for close combat. |
| Fireball | Toronto magic shop | Learn it by buying its medallion. An option for ranged attacks. |
| Lightning | Toronto magic shop | Learn it by buying its medallion. A projectile-spell option. |
| Ghost | Toronto magic shop | Use the light of its projectile to locate walls in Platinum's darkness. |
| Stop | Ice Castle: Rein and Barness | Stop the enemy in the Phantom fight before striking with your weapon. |
| Ice | Ferris in Toronto after the Ice Castle | Creates a temporary floor over lava to give you a route across. |
| Feather | Barness on Platinum's 4F | Creates a temporary floor in midair to cross holes on the lower floors. |
- Obtain medallions to learn more spells. Do not calculate their use as consuming a numerical MP value.
- Spell durations, damage and effectiveness against bosses will be added after checking sources whose values agree.
Nine Jade types and 13 fairies
| Jade | Function | Where to obtain it | Fairy name |
|---|---|---|---|
| Crimson Jade | Supports you with fire projectiles | The hut north of Arcs, among other locations | Ifri / Gala |
| Foundation Jade | Supplements GUARD | Hidden room in the Tower of Light | Golem |
| Rage Jade | Attacks enemies by ramming them | Merchants in Arcs and Toronto | Wark / Griffin |
| Light Jade | Illuminates the Ancient Ruins' darkness | Ancient Ruins, 1F | Parzun |
| Water Jade | Supports you with water projectiles | Merchants in Arcs and Toronto | Domul / Pris |
| Life Jade | Heals you while you stand still | Trade the Silver Tablet at Toronto's library | Anon |
| Thunder Jade | Shocks enemies that approach | Merchants in Arcs and Toronto | Piruru / Jima |
| Power Jade | Supplements POWER | Merchant in Arcs | Sera |
| Dead Jade | Revives you at the cost of fairy levels | Merchant in Arcs | Curse |
- Crimson, Rage, Water and Thunder each have two differently named fairies. The number of Jade types is therefore separate from the total number of fairies.
- Stand still somewhere safe when you want the life fairy to heal you. The dead fairy revives you by losing levels; it is not an unlimited revival medicine.
Saving, healing and returning
- You can save at an inn without staying overnight. Save before exploring, and stay as well if you need healing.
- Save when you reach a dungeon statue. Add more destinations selectable with Warp Gates to shorten trips for healing and supplies.
- Try speaking to Barness when you meet him. In some scenes he can heal you even if you do not buy anything.
- Return and Warp Gates cannot be used in Platinum's dark section. Do not head deep inside before finding a statue on the assumption that your return items will always work.
