Alundra (PlayStation)
Basics: platforms, Bombs, equipment and dream saves
Carry barrels and rocks to build footholds where jumping alone cannot reach. Before carrying fire or entering a dream, check the required tools and missable items.
Scope: Japanese PlayStation version (released April 11, 1997; additional materials checked October 14, 2026. No hands-on retest performed.) / Content checked: October 14, 2026
Build platforms to overcome height differences
- Barrels, pots and small rocks are platforms you can stand on. Do not break them all just because they are breakable; carry them near otherwise unreachable ledges.
- Do not judge distance solely from the jump animation: check your landing point and shadow. Before crossing small posts or moving iron balls, also identify the next platform.
- Distinguish ice pillars that must be pushed from those to keep as climbing platforms. Use jumping attacks or the bow to reach high switches.
Use the Bomb's delay
- Use Bombs on cracked walls and slabs. In some areas, dropping through a broken floor is the route forward.
- Put a Bomb beside a lever, then move to a distant platform. Use the delay before explosion for the shrine's timed mechanisms.
- If you need to keep a flame burning, open the path with Bombs before carrying it. Watch for water drops and falls into water too.
Check ownership and equipped status separately
| Equipment or tool | When obtained | What it enables | Where used |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sand Cape | Cave northwest of the desert | Dive into sand | Sand temple; Eline's sand world |
| Long Boots | Complete the Ancient Temple | Normal movement and jumping on sand | Northern desert; Floodgate Key |
| Merman Boots | Chest partway through the Coastal Cave | Swim across water | Waterways, lake islands and behind waterfalls |
| Power Glove | Anzes's house after investigating the church's secret | Lift large rocks | Path to the Snow King's monument; coastal detours |
| Jake's Beans | Speak to Havan after Mediaum's dream | Reach high ground using planters | Underground Waterway, Fire Manor and shrine roof |
| Aqua Cape | Received from King Miming after Nirude's trial | Enter large whirlpools and go underwater | Faerie Pond |
| Magic Boots | Inside Mount Torla | Walk over lava | Later volcano section |
| Havan's Charm | Light six candle stands in order in the basement east of the church | Defensive support and protection from fire damage | Nirude's face rocks, Mount Torla and Wilda |
Save before entering and finishing dreams
- Keep separate saves before new village incidents. Completed dreams cannot be revisited, so do not keep only saves made after missing their items.
- In dreams, check remaining chests before locked doors or the final warp. Do not plan to return for Life Vessels or Gilded Falcons after the battle.
- Olen's dream sends you back to reality after defeating the enemies, so collect its Gilded Falcon immediately on the spot.
Narrow down whom to speak to when progression stops
- Check Wines and Sectas for the first dream, and Sybil and Anzes after the mine. Village conversations change after each incident ends.
- Speak to Sectas while exploring the church. Catching the fleeing book and solving altar mechanisms require his cooperation.
- Later, Mediaum provides the Great Tree Gem and guidance on volcano preparations. Merely returning to the village does not open every next entrance: check conversations and receipt of tools.
