Get the rod from the angler at Meteor Lake's bridge; obtain the journal by giving the captain three different species. Rare color variants are not treated as necessary for the same condition.
Starting fishing and submitting to the captain
Ask Bill at Meteor Lake to teach you fishing and receive the rod. Follow the on-screen instructions when a fish bites, and change waters instead of trying to fill the journal in one place.
Give the northeastern captain three species for the journal. Submitting 14 ordinary species differs from collecting every fish including color variants.
14 ordinary species and waters to try
Locations are candidate waters, not fixed spawn coordinates. No guaranteed catch probability for an arbitrary attempt is provided.
