Zoominoes Early-Game Guide: Placement, Plays and Finishing a Day

Fully released: changes through v1.0.8 cross-checked · Updated 2026-10-12

At the start of a day, first read the Calendar and target. Check that day's restrictions before choosing which animals from your hand go where, instead of repeating your usual placements.

Work through daily decisions in order

Check the score needed and remaining Plays, then choose placement order. Finishing in fewer Plays also helps income, so avoid playing low-impact animals without a purpose.

  1. Read the Calendar for today's special event.
  2. Check the score target, remaining Plays and your hand's colors/types.
  3. Plan a place for your core animal and connections for the next animal.
  4. If needed, use snacks before placing an animal.
  5. After placement, check score and remaining Plays to choose your next action.
  6. Once the target is met, identify one problem to address in the next shop.

Place animals with colors, types and the next empty space in mind

Placement depends on nearby animals' colors and types. Check not only whether this tile fits now, but whether the next animal can connect.

Some abilities change scoring at corners, beside neighbors or on special spaces. Reserve locations suited to your core animals before filling them with low-impact animals.

Check before placementConsiderExample decision
Color and typeAvailable places and compatibility with the next animals in handPreserve connections that let core animals play in sequence
Bonus spacesWhich animal benefits most?Use them for animals that reach the target in fewer Plays
Adjacent animalsDo neighbor count, colors or types determine activation?Place prerequisites first in an appropriate order
Empty spacesCan they support extra placements or summons?Filling the board is not a goal by itself
Special eventsDo ordinary placement rules or the board change?Prioritize that day's description

Distinguish hand and deck targets

Read hand as your current hand, and deck as the animals not yet drawn. Do not assume a deck-targeting effect reaches an animal in hand in the same way.

Some abilities change, return or transform the leftmost animal. Check your hand's order before use rather than assuming you can choose any one animal.

English labels help compare effect wording. Prioritize the actual Japanese display and the target specified by the effect.

Buy what you are missing next

Adding animals creates options but can also make a particular core animal harder to draw. Compare new animals, snacks upgrading current core animals and souvenirs with continuing effects together.

Identify why you missed the target

Distinguish failing to draw your core animal, failing to place it and placing it for insufficient score, rather than grouping everything as low points. Adjust the next purchase or selection to that cause.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Q1 Should I place animals from highest to lowest points? ▼
A

Placement requirements, bonuses and places for the next animal also matter. Check arrangements that enable core animals and remaining Plays, as well as point order.

Q2 Can I add every promising animal to the deck? ▼
A

That can reduce the chance of drawing your core animals. Choose by actual contribution to score, placement and Plays, and consider removing unnecessary animals too.

Q3 Are souvenirs and snacks the same kind of upgrade? ▼
A

Their roles and targets differ. Souvenir conditions can affect snack targets or repeats, so read both descriptions.
