Zoominoes Snack Guide: Applying Them to Your Hand and Checking Current Combos
Fully released: changes through v1.0.8 cross-checked · Updated 2026-10-12
If a snack will not work, check whether the animal is already on the board or whether it targets a space instead. Once you can use it, also check for souvenirs that broaden removal or transformation effects.
Drag animal-targeting snacks onto animals in your hand before placement
A player's resolved support report confirms dragging animal-targeting snacks onto animals still in hand. If dragging onto a placed animal does nothing, first reconsider the target and timing.
- Read the snack description to check whether it targets an animal or a space.
- For an animal-targeting snack, keep the target in your hand.
- Drag the snack onto the target animal in hand.
- Check the effect and target changes before placing the animal.
This applies to animal-targeting snacks. Snacks creating special spaces have a different target, and an official update says they can also be used on existing bonus spaces. Not all snacks are hand-only.
Use removal and transformation to draw core animals more reliably
Continuing to add low-scoring animals makes late-run core animals harder to draw. Developer advice also suggests cleanup with Ghost Pepper, Soda and animals with removal/discard effects, focusing on a color or type.
Before removal, check souvenirs that widen effect targets and elements that repeat the effect. Even when intending to remove only one animal, the build may cause others to be affected.
| Reference name or effect | Purpose | Check before use |
|---|---|---|
| Removal such as Ghost Pepper | Reduce unnecessary animals | Do you hold a souvenir that broadens the target? |
| Transformation such as Soda | Change an animal into another role | Check current color/permanent points and the role after transformation |
| Pancakes | Permanently remove the target and transfer its points to the leftmost animal in hand | Check both the disappearing target and the leftmost recipient |
| Hand/deck manipulation | Make needed animals easier to use | Read specifications such as hand, deck and leftmost |
Combine moving animals with bonus spaces
If an animal moves after placement, the spaces it crosses and nearby effects matter as well as the starting position. Read what the movement gains under its current ability, rather than simply placing it on a high-scoring space without considering the destination.
| English reference name | Effect described in official updates | Placement decision |
|---|---|---|
| Rhino | Moves sideways as far as possible, gaining bonuses from spaces crossed | Check the sideways route and bonuses |
| Frog | Hops to a neighboring space 3 times, gaining bonuses from spaces crossed | Check effects on surrounding spaces |
| Narwhal | Doubles bonus-space effects on itself and gains neighboring spaces' bonuses too | Look at neighboring spaces as well as its own |
| Kitsune | Permanently transforms the leftmost animal in hand into a random Mythical animal | Check that a core animal you want to keep is not leftmost |
This is not a ranking of all animals. Fixed effect-value tables and placement diagrams guaranteed on every board are not provided.
Current conditions for Kangaroo, Mirror and ability copying
Check whether the same actions work in the current version, rather than aiming only for large numbers in old videos. In particular, distinguish name-based target restrictions from summon retriggers.
| Element | Current handling | Assumption to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Kangaroo | Bounces only animals with different names | Continuously bouncing animals with the same name between each other |
| Tanuki with Kangaroo's ability | Does not bounce other Tanukis | Judging the target only by the copied ability's original animal name |
| Mirror summons | Do not trigger Mirror again | Assuming every summon retriggers Mirror |
| Ability copying | Support for passive abilities such as Cherufe, Honey Badger and Vogelkop has been fixed | Assuming only active abilities can be copied |
Align colors, types and roles without fixing the finished build too early
Favor colors/types that make core animals easier to place, and compare remaining animals by roles such as extra Plays, hand manipulation and cleanup. Removing weak animals differs from removing every useful support animal too.
- Check the colors/types and positions where your current core animals can score.
- Look for animals with extra-Play or hand-manipulation roles as well as points.
- Consider low-impact animals for removal or transformation.
- Before using a removal snack, check souvenirs' areas of effect.
- Check the Calendar for events that expose the build's weaknesses.
