TOEM
TOEM: unlock the Tripod and Honk, and fix photo tasks that will not clear
When a TOEM task does not finish, first check what the game is asking you to do. Taking a photograph, keeping the camera focused on something and showing a saved photograph to a character are different actions. A target can be visible without the request being complete. Start by talking to the requester, perform the required camera action, then return to submit the result when asked.

Get the Tripod in Oaklaville
Open solution / late-game details
Find the photographer outside Oak Hotel who gives Photo Challenge #2. Her clue, an army of tiny soldiers, means ants. Go past the scout lodge to the area with the other photography challenge, photograph the ants and take that photograph back to the photographer outside the hotel. Completing her request gives you the Tripod.
Do not confuse this with Photo Challenge #1. That request asks for a mossy rock, a pine tree and an axe. Both challenges matter for the region's photography goals, but the ant photograph is the useful checkpoint when you are specifically looking for the Tripod.
Put the camera somewhere you cannot stand
Open solution / late-game details
For a self-portrait task such as Become a Flower, position yourself behind the face cutout and use the flipped camera or the Tripod. For Monster Spotting, leaving the camera in place lets you move your character out of sight while still photographing the creature.
The four locations are Oaklaville, the harbour at Stanhamn, Logcity and snowy Kiiruberg. In Oaklaville, hide behind the flower cutout. At Stanhamn, place the camera on the promenade and move down to the beach. In Logcity, watch the sewer near the skateboarders using the Tripod. At Kiiruberg, move out of sight using the platforms near the distant snowy cliff. Return all four photographs to the requester inside Oak Hotel. Finding the first creature does not finish the whole request.
Unlock Honk through Solve the Chaos
Open solution / late-game details
In Stanhamn, find the Honk Master at the stormy tower, speak with him and follow him upstairs. Aim the camera in the direction marked by the eye symbol and photograph the storm when lightning reveals it. Show him that photograph. Then keep the camera focused on each of the four stranded boats on the rocks until each is identified. This is a detection step, rather than four ordinary snapshots. Finish the sequence to obtain Honk.
Use Honk when seagulls obstruct the beach pier or raft operator. It also solves later tasks: scare the mice out of the Logcity bakery, or make the crow drop the stolen Frisbee. For a ghost request, remember to wear Ghost Glasses and speak to the ghost first; the sandwich by the pirate bridge appears after its request has started.
Keep Basto separate from the main journey
On a normal save, complete Experience TOEM, return to Nana in Homelanda, collect the ticket at home and speak to the Viking at Stanhamn's harbour. Basto is the free extra region. Its water balloons and day/night exploration do not replace the earlier Tripod or Honk tasks.
The PC 3.0.5 update also added a new-adventure option that starts with the main quest completed and the items needed for Basto. On that start, already owning the attachments is expected. Inside Basto, rest in Nana's hammock to change the time. A photograph taken at night can be shown to a daytime requester, such as the boy asking about fireflies.
Questions and answers
Why does a visible target not finish a photo task?
A task may require a photograph, camera detection or showing a stored photograph. Speak to the requester, check the requested action, and return to submit when needed.
