TOEM Basto Guide: 20 Quests, Four Ice Creams, Caves, Castle and Achievements
Base-game and Basto quests, compendium, equipment and achievements · Updated 2026-10-13
After the base game, collect the ticket at Nana's house and take the harbor boat from Stanhamn. Ladders and characters change between day and night, so revisit familiar paths.
Order for day, night and tools
The four ice creams are used one apiece in four connected quests. Do not confuse the fruit trees with coconut trees.
- Use water balloons at the harbor and rest in the camp tent's hammock to switch between day and night.
- Get the Pickaxe from Arthur, then collect fossils and animals down the night-only ladders.
- Knock fruit from four trees and have the shop in the castle area make four ice creams during the day.
- Give one each to the Viking, the vampire unlocked after the bat quest, the prince and the injured monkey.
- After moving the prince, complete the judging of three castle photographs and take the king's close-up portrait.
- Open the cave's cracked wall and collect Itsy Bitsy, Tato King and the hidden crown at the castle.
- Finish the three daytime carnival games and prizes, the night moon, Firefly and Nix, then return to unreported quests.

Recipients of the four ice creams
Deliver the ice creams made from the four fruit trees after meeting each recipient's progression requirements.

Collecting Tato King and the Royal Crown in sequence
Hit the cracked wall by Glow Worm several times with water balloons, then open it with the Pickaxe. Photograph Itsy Bitsy in the room's corner. Extinguish every torch and solve the sliding puzzle that appears.
Place the photograph of the completed Tato King board in the frame behind the right-hand pillar inside the castle. Dig where the left pillar moved to obtain the Royal Crown. The initial board's seven moves, prizes and crown sequence are covered in “Basto Games and Crown.”
Eleven special portraits for the Beret
Show all 11 special portraits to the painter at the castle to receive the Beret. Ordinary compendium animal photos or distant pictures of people do not replace these portraits.

Alternative new-game start and selfie version differences
With an ordinary existing save, complete Experience TOEM at the summit, collect the ticket at Nana's house and take the boat from the harbor. PC version 3.0.5 added another starting option: scroll down in New Adventure and choose the postgame start. When available in your version and game state, it creates a new adventure with Experience TOEM already completed and all regions and tools needed for Basto unlocked. This starting method skips the base-game ending sequence. It is separate from continuing an existing adventure. We have not tested the option's display requirements or save-overwrite behaviour through gameplay.
PC version 3.0.10 fixed a bug where your special close-up portrait was not accepted even while sitting in the painter's chair. If sitting in front of the painter and reversing the camera toward yourself fails on an older version, first check your installed version and update status.
