How to try a class for the first time

  1. Check starting weapons for unlocked classes. Do not begin with a locked class as an assumption.
  2. Initially choose something easy to control and practice dodging and room selection with the same class.
  3. When a new class unlocks, read its unique description to identify differences from the previous class.
  4. Distinguish control failures from build failures; do not make changing classes the only solution.

Notes when reading class examples

Even a ranged specialist such as Ranger requires reading weapon, equipment, and Trait conditions. A class name alone does not limit usable weapons to one type. Necromancer companion builds do not mean multiplayer with other people. This is single-player. The old claim that Bard assumes multiplayer has been withdrawn.

Track unlocks through class selection and World Objective

Avoid confusing class unlocks with Mastery growth. Check locked requirements and make the necessary progression your run's goal. The old claim that FoD levels uniformly unlock classes has been removed. All conditions for each update have not yet been cross-checked.

Why tiers cannot be established

Evaluation requires a version, additional difficulty, equipment conditions, and play objective. Ease of a first clear and damage with extensive unlocks are different comparisons. This page has no play results testing every class under identical conditions. It therefore avoids numerical win rates and strongest-class rankings, instead using the criteria above.

Frequently asked questions

Are there eight classes in total?

No. The official store checked on October 16, 2026 advertised 34 classes. The old eight entries were not exhaustive.

Are Ranger and Sorcerer always strongest?

That assertion was withdrawn because no comparative results support it. Choose according to the current version, starting equipment, unlock progress, and ease of control.
