Thousands act simultaneously. A city builder where war takes place on the scale of a real war. This guide covers common stumbling points using official information and widely established mechanics.
What is Songs of Syx?
A fantasy city builder simultaneously simulating thousands of citizens and soldiers. Start with a small village, build, scheme, and fight until it becomes a vast empire. Scale is the standout feature: both city population and battlefield armies are counted in thousands, making battles in a city builder take place at the scale of real warfare. Several species coexist, each with different preferences and abilities, adding management complexity. Despite Early Access, it enjoys strong support, with over 9,000 Steam reviews and a Very Positive rating. Note that **Japanese is not officially supported**.

「Thousands act simultaneously. A city builder where war takes place on the scale of a real war」 — Based on the official Steam store description and review record
1. The scale is vastly larger
Citizens and soldiers are simulated in their thousands. Managing it like a small colony simulator can quickly lead to collapse.
2. Food and logistics are constant bottlenecks
Population growth raises food consumption and transport demands. Check delivery to the right places rather than production totals alone.
3. Several species coexist
Species differ in abilities and preferences, and poor treatment causes discontent. Job assignments determine city efficiency.
4. Wars are large too
Huge numbers of soldiers take the field: you manage armies rather than a small elite force. War is impossible without an economy that can sustain them.
5. Early Access and no Japanese support
Development continues and mechanics may change. Japanese is also not officially supported, so remember that the UI is in English.
This guide uses the official Steam store description and mechanics that have remained stable over time. Specific numerical values, recipes, and balance details are omitted because updates can change them:
