⚠️ Threat response guide

Compare hazard priorities, preparation and escape choices. These thirteen situations organize practical advice; they are not a claim to list every in-game anomaly.

SPriority Priority S — Leave immediately when necessary
Instability Storm
Instability Storm
SHigh

A radiation storm that closes in as stability collapses. Growing instability gives a warning, followed by yellow and red fronts. Prioritize returning rather than parking to wait it out.

Response

Watch the front on the ARC display and leave along the gateway route. Opening a gateway also triggers instability.

APriority Priority A — Serious damage risk
Belching Barnacle
Belching Barnacle
AHigh

A geyser-like anomaly in The Mires. Sludge hitting the wagon obscures the windshield; material landing on the ground can become a Rotten Egg.

Response

Avoid the landing area of its projectiles and use the wipers if sludge coats the windshield.

Spark Tower
Spark Tower
AHigh

A tower that sends electrical bolts toward nearby targets. Destroying all generators shuts it down. Insulated parts help preparation but do not establish immunity or a universal 15 m safe radius.

Response

Avoid its electrical reach. To shut it down, destroy the surrounding blue Plasma Generators with the Impact Hammer.

Abductor
Abductor
AHigh

A floating mass of scrap that grabs the wagon or objects with a magnet and drags them. Collisions with trees and obstacles are the main concern; low speed alone does not make contact safe.

Response

Stay clear or distract it with a lit Road Flare or resource. An unlocked Limpulse Emitter or LIM Shield can help prevent attachment.

Left-Right
Left-Right
AHigh

An anomaly that disrupts steering when driven through. Leave room to recover control without hitting nearby obstacles.

Response

Avoid the orange-and-blue swirl. After contact, check steering behavior and regain a controlled route.

Sizzling Mist
Sizzling Mist
AHigh

An electrified mist that damages a person or wagon entering it. Keep the wagon outside the mist where possible and inspect affected parts afterward.

Response

Go around the electrified mist and check the protection of installed Insulated parts.

BPriority Priority B — A hazard requiring care
Tourist
Tourist
BHigh

Mannequin-like anomalies that can move while unobserved. Contact causes an explosion that can trigger nearby Tourists; keep clear of a group to avoid a chain reaction.

Response

Avoid touching the mannequins. If needed, trigger them from a safe distance with a lit Road Flare or suitable flare shot.

Pufferfish
Pufferfish
BHigh

An inflating airbag-like anomaly. It repels a nearby person with air; approaching in the wagon makes it leap away and leave a Glittering Boulder. Watch its movement and the objects it leaves behind.

Response

Do not approach too closely on foot. If following it, watch dropped objects and surrounding obstacles.

Hot Dust
Hot Dust
BHigh

A yellow-green hemispherical radiation hazard. Avoid remaining within the affected area and plan a route around it.

Response

Go around the yellow-green area. Check radiation protection such as Lead-Plated parts or an unlocked Ion Shield.

Seismic Squall
Seismic Squall
BHigh

A moving weather effect that raises many Bollards and Shakers. Work toward leaving the affected area instead of waiting in place.

Response

Leave the moving yellow area on the map and keep a route clear of rising ground obstacles.

Pickpocket
Pickpocket
BHigh

Found in The Mires and Smokestacks, it can steal a wagon part and fly away. Losing an installed part can leave the wagon less prepared for the return.

Response

Keep the wagon clear of the tires and claw. If a part is taken, the flashing red light helps identify the anomaly carrying it.

CPriority Priority C — A situation to manage
Bollard
Bollard
CHigh

A section of ground that rises as a physical obstruction, sometimes sinking again later. Seismic Squalls can also produce them; leave room to steer around the obstruction.

Response

Steer around the rising obstruction and reduce speed when you cannot read the road ahead.

Darkness
Darkness
CHigh

A visibility situation rather than a separate enemy species. Lighting does not make every terrain feature or anomaly safe.

Response

Check lights, slow to match the visible road and confirm the route.

📋 Survival habits for Pacific Drive
⚑
Keep track of storm and route information

Respond to storm warnings before continuing to loot. Leave enough time to reach a gateway along a viable route.

⚑
Check tire condition after rough ground or hazards

Inspect tires after acid, collisions or rough terrain and repair faults before the next trip. There is no universal 30-second inspection rule or 50% condition threshold in this guide.

⚑
Be willing to change course

When several anomalies overlap, choose another route or retreat instead of forcing a passage through them.

⚑
Carry appropriate repair supplies

A suitable repair item can keep a damaged wagon moving when the garage is far away. Stop in a safe place, identify the damaged part and use the item that matches its condition.

❓ Frequently asked questions
Q1. How should I respond to a Zone Storm?
A storm puts a limit on how long it is safe to remain. Watch route and in-world warnings, stop collecting materials and head for a reachable gateway. Anchors provide ARC energy rather than securing the wagon against the storm. Do not wait in place on the assumption that an Anchor System will protect you.
Q2. How can I collect materials near an electrical anomaly?
Observe from outside the visible effect and prefer a route around it. Check the protection provided by installed parts before considering an approach. A universal 15 m safe radius has not been verified. Do not drive into an electrical effect simply to collect a small amount of material.
Q3. What if a route crosses corrosive ground?
Look for another route first. Check the actual protection of tires, panels and doors, and carry suitable repairs before entering a hazardous area. The earlier fixed reductions of 50% and 60% are not established here. After passing through, inspect the parts at a safe place.
Q4. How should I cross a gravity-related hazard?
Observe the moving objects and affected area from outside, then choose a clear route if possible. No universal safe speed of 15–20 km/h is established here. Do not assume a suspension upgrade prevents landing damage; keep enough room to regain control and inspect the wagon afterward.
