PACIFIC DRIVE / ANOMALIES

Anomalies Response guide

Thirteen hazard situations to review before and during an excursion. The severity groups are editorial priorities, not in-game classifications or a complete list of anomaly species.

⚡ Hazard priorities
S
Extreme
A threat that can end the excursion
A
High
Risk of serious vehicle damage without preparation
B
Caution
Avoidable or manageable with care
C
Low
A situation to plan for in advance
DANGER S — Extreme hazards

Extreme priority

Priority S

Instability Storm (Instability Storm)

A radiation storm that closes in as stability collapses. Growing instability gives a warning, followed by yellow and red fronts. Prioritize returning rather than parking to wait it out.

Response:

Watch the front on the ARC display and leave along the gateway route. Opening a gateway also triggers instability.

DANGER A — Major hazards

High priority

Priority A

Belching Barnacle (Belching Barnacle)

A geyser-like anomaly in The Mires. Sludge hitting the wagon obscures the windshield; material landing on the ground can become a Rotten Egg.

Response:

Avoid the landing area of its projectiles and use the wipers if sludge coats the windshield.

Priority A

Spark Tower (Spark Tower)

A tower that sends electrical bolts toward nearby targets. Destroying all generators shuts it down. Insulated parts help preparation but do not establish immunity or a universal 15 m safe radius.

Response:

Avoid its electrical reach. To shut it down, destroy the surrounding blue Plasma Generators with the Impact Hammer.

Priority A

Abductor (Abductor)

A floating mass of scrap that grabs the wagon or objects with a magnet and drags them. Collisions with trees and obstacles are the main concern; low speed alone does not make contact safe.

Response:

Stay clear or distract it with a lit Road Flare or resource. An unlocked Limpulse Emitter or LIM Shield can help prevent attachment.

Priority A

Left-Right (Left-Right)

An anomaly that disrupts steering when driven through. Leave room to recover control without hitting nearby obstacles.

Response:

Avoid the orange-and-blue swirl. After contact, check steering behavior and regain a controlled route.

Priority A

Sizzling Mist (Sizzling Mist)

An electrified mist that damages a person or wagon entering it. Keep the wagon outside the mist where possible and inspect affected parts afterward.

Response:

Go around the electrified mist and check the protection of installed Insulated parts.

DANGER B — Hazards needing attention

Caution priority

Priority B

Tourist (Tourist)

Mannequin-like anomalies that can move while unobserved. Contact causes an explosion that can trigger nearby Tourists; keep clear of a group to avoid a chain reaction.

Response:

Avoid touching the mannequins. If needed, trigger them from a safe distance with a lit Road Flare or suitable flare shot.

Priority B

Pufferfish (Pufferfish)

An inflating airbag-like anomaly. It repels a nearby person with air; approaching in the wagon makes it leap away and leave a Glittering Boulder. Watch its movement and the objects it leaves behind.

Response:

Do not approach too closely on foot. If following it, watch dropped objects and surrounding obstacles.

Priority B

Hot Dust (Hot Dust)

A yellow-green hemispherical radiation hazard. Avoid remaining within the affected area and plan a route around it.

Response:

Go around the yellow-green area. Check radiation protection such as Lead-Plated parts or an unlocked Ion Shield.

Priority B

Seismic Squall (Seismic Squall)

A moving weather effect that raises many Bollards and Shakers. Work toward leaving the affected area instead of waiting in place.

Response:

Leave the moving yellow area on the map and keep a route clear of rising ground obstacles.

Priority B

Pickpocket (Pickpocket)

Found in The Mires and Smokestacks, it can steal a wagon part and fly away. Losing an installed part can leave the wagon less prepared for the return.

Response:

Keep the wagon clear of the tires and claw. If a part is taken, the flashing red light helps identify the anomaly carrying it.

DANGER C — Manageable situations

Lower priority

Priority C

Bollard (Bollard)

A section of ground that rises as a physical obstruction, sometimes sinking again later. Seismic Squalls can also produce them; leave room to steer around the obstruction.

Response:

Steer around the rising obstruction and reduce speed when you cannot read the road ahead.

Priority C

Darkness (Darkness)

A visibility situation rather than a separate enemy species. Lighting does not make every terrain feature or anomaly safe.

Response:

Check lights, slow to match the visible road and confirm the route.

EMERGENCY TIPS

Emergency survival tips

⚠️ Emergency checks in the Zone

If a tire goes flat

  1. 1. Stop safely and get out using your configured interact control
  2. 2. Take a spare tire from storage
  3. 3. Replace the damaged tire
  4. 4. Get back inside and head for a safe return

If the engine stops

  1. 1. Get out and open the hood
  2. 2. Check fuel and damaged parts
  3. 3. Use the repair item appropriate to the fault
  4. 4. Refuel if necessary, then restart the engine

If a storm suddenly closes in

  1. 1. Stop scavenging immediately
  2. 2. Locate a reachable gateway and check the route
  3. 3. Drive along the clear escape route
  4. 4. Use the ARC device and reach the gateway; an anchor is not storm shelter

If the wagon is close to breaking down

  1. 1. Put collected materials into the wagon
  2. 2. Prioritize essential parts such as the engine and tires
  3. 3. Make the repairs needed to keep moving
  4. 4. Take the shortest viable route back to the garage
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What should I do when a storm approaches?

Watch the storm warnings and stop scavenging in time to reach a gateway. Managing the time left in an excursion matters more than collecting one more item. A storm is a reason to leave, not a safe place to park and wait. Anchors provide energy for the ARC device; they do not pin the wagon down against a storm.

What if I cannot avoid a corrosive puddle?

Choose a route that avoids acid where possible. Before entering a hazardous area, check the protection shown on the parts you actually have installed and carry appropriate repair supplies. Do not rely on an assumed fixed percentage of damage reduction. Once clear, inspect the tires and exposed panels at a safe stopping point or the garage.

What should I do near an electrical anomaly?

Keep clear of the visible electrical effect and look for another route. Inspect the protection shown on your installed parts before approaching. A fixed 15 m safe radius and instant destruction of every unprotected electrical component have not been established here. Avoid stopping within the hazard to collect materials.

Are dumpsters hostile enemies?

The Friendly Dumpster at the garage is a source of supplies, not a garbage-bin enemy that rams the wagon. In the field, inspect any moving or suspicious object from a safe distance before driving toward it. Leave enough room to change direction and avoid unnecessary frontal collisions.
