Materials to check during your first excursions

Priority 1 — Scrap Metal

A basic crafting resource. Salvage suitable wrecks and discarded equipment with the appropriate tool.

Look around: Vehicles, wreckage and salvageable equipment

Priority 2 — Rubber

Useful for tire-related crafting. Salvage suitable tires and check the actual recipe.

Look around: Tires and suitable salvage

Priority 3 — Electronics

Useful for electrical crafting. Salvage suitable equipment and check its output.

RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

Efficient material management

Planning a collection route

  • ▸ Choose stops that leave a viable route to the gateway
  • ▸ Include facilities relevant to the materials your recipe requires
  • ▸ Favor a lower-risk route over a detour through several hazards
  • ▸ Check route conditions and storm information before extending the trip

Managing garage stock

  • ▸ Keep enough Scrap Metal for expected repairs and planned recipes; 200 is not a universal requirement
  • ▸ List the materials for the next upgrade before leaving
  • ▸ Check the quantities you need and spare storage space before collecting basic materials
  • ▸ Build a reserve of harder-to-find materials across successful returns

Using cargo storage

  • ▸ Extra storage increases available slots; it does not guarantee twice the materials per excursion
  • ▸ Prioritize needed materials and stack space rather than an unverified weight system
  • ▸ Leave room for valuable finds later in the trip
  • ▸ Accumulate harder-to-find materials over several safe returns

Crafting and resource planning

  • ▸ Check which garage machines and recipes are actually unlocked
  • ▸ Recycle unwanted parts with an appropriate unlocked facility rather than assuming Scrap Metal converts into every material
  • ▸ Unlock the desired recipe before planning a dedicated material trip
  • ▸ Prepare several useful recipes before leaving to reduce repeated trips
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which materials should I collect early?

Prioritize the basic materials needed by your next actual recipe, such as Scrap Metal, Rubber and Electronics. Search roadside wrecks, vehicles and equipment with the appropriate tool. Do not assume every upgrade uses the same three materials.

How should I look for less common materials?

Check the resources shown for the junction and the recipe you want to complete. Visit suitable facilities while maintaining a route back. Keep anchor energy separate from inventory materials: it supports the ARC gateway return, while recipes use their listed crafting supplies.

Is collecting materials inefficient without more cargo storage?

More storage helps when the trunk fills before a safe return, but it is not a guaranteed doubling of yield. Check the real storage blueprint and mounting requirements at the Fabrication Station. A safe early return with useful materials is still worthwhile before those upgrades are available.

Where can I refill gasoline?

Look for fuel at suitable gas stations and siphon it from vehicles where available. Include a fuel stop when planning a route, and check fuel before leaving the garage. Extra tanks can extend range when unlocked; their capacity and recipe depend on the actual part.
