Mystic Ark(Super Famicom)
Preparation and actions for difficult sections and bosses
Prepare separately for instant death, ice attacks, enemy healing and solo combat. For the final Evil Heart, assign accuracy, physical power and group healing roles.

Metal Fox: concentrate attacks to exceed 100-HP healing
- After the Fox area, restore the protagonist's HP before going to the back.
- Its More Health restores 100 HP. If repeated weak attacks do not exceed its healing, strengthen physical attackers with Power or similar effects.
- After victory, return to the item-shop owner at Loofah Bridge. Do not assume the seed Hearts enter your inventory merely by winning; complete the receiving conversation.
Beetle and King Beetle: budget supplies across consecutive battles
- The first Beetle deals physical HP damage, so do not postpone healing the protagonist.
- The Beetle battle in Grape also includes healing and magic. Do not assume it uses only the actions from the first hideout fight.
- King Beetle in the northeastern tree is followed by Kosukkara. Check HP and healing MP even just before defeating King Beetle.
Aqua Hydra: prepare for group magic before entering
- Entering the back room in Soda Hall begins the battle. Restore HP beforehand and reserve MP on a group healer.
- Magic damages everyone in this battle. A Magic Mirror can be used during combat, so prepare before attacking if you have one.
- Avoid overusing the healer for attacks and strengthen physical attackers with Power or similar effects. Rescue the swallowed child after victory and return to the mansion.
- Fire effectiveness and lightning/ice resistance values remain pending for lack of sufficient independent-source comparison. No fixed required level, damage taken or kill-turn count is provided.
Chimera: instant-death protection and physical attacks
- After Minotaur, first consider instant-death protection, which HP healing alone cannot provide.
- Use Death Guard on the protagonist, then protect the accompanying companion. Wisdom is obtained after this battle, so your party here is the protagonist plus 1 companion.
- After preparing defenses, concentrate physical attacks. Do not respond to its healing with a prolonged battle where you only keep healing too.
- This does not mean the battle is impossible without Death Guard. It advises preparation based on learned spells and current items.
3 Death Knights: reduce them one at a time
- Prepare protagonist instant-death protection first and focus attacks on 1 target. Avoid spreading damage evenly across all 3 to weaken them together.
- A damaged opponent may use instant death, so protect before pushing it low. Defeat them individually to reduce enemy actions and retain a healer.
- Rather than exhausting supplies through repeated spells, use attackers with Power or Focus to exceed the enemy's healing.
- After defeating all 3, examine the room's device to upgrade the Open Card. For Titanium Armor, return to Loosewrench before taking the Ark of Fire.
- Exact counterattack HP percentages and guaranteed activation conditions remain unverified.
Stone Dragon: distinguish battle statues from pushable rocks
- The correct statues in the 3-statue rooms are, in progression order, right, upper center, right, left, upper center. Examine a statue, defeat Stone Dragon and check that the passage-blocking rock vanished.
- Do not look for a new fight at the final rock; push it to reach the Ancient Mirror beyond.
- These battles are consecutive, so heal the protagonist after each. Do not neglect HP on the assumption that a fixed number of spell casts will suffice.
| Progression order | Statue to examine |
|---|---|
| Room 1 | Right |
| Room 2 | Upper center |
| Room 3 | Right |
| Room 4 | Left |
| Room 5 | Upper center |
- "Center" means the statue on the upper side. The passage rock disappears, not the statue itself. Push the final rock to pass.
Korn entrance clone: obtain the Ancient Mirror first
- While its entrance power drives you away, stop repeating the conversation and obtain the Ancient Mirror in the Quicksand Cave.
- Return to the entrance clone with the mirror. Blocking its power is followed by a battle, so heal before speaking.
- The mirror is consumed after the battle. Manage it separately from ordinary Magic Mirrors by name and use.
Kuga (ancient): strengthen attackers and assign healing
- Before advancing beyond the fallen tower, prepare equipment, HP and MP, and assign a healer.
- Use Power or similar effects on physical attackers, and Guard when taking heavy damage. Keep the healer from attacking too often and restore the party's HP.
- Use the Ark of Wisdom on the device after victory and return to Nanaka. Receive the Ark of Wood from Nanaka's elder.
- The full spell list and resistance values are unverified. Values such as Prominence's power are not given as fixed figures.
House of Darkness Fierce Beast: optional solo battle
- Examine the lizard hatched from the egg, take its Tail and give it to the bird to open the Fierce Beast room.
- An optional battle for the protagonist alone. Prepare Hard or similar options for the female protagonist, or a Guard Bottle for the male, and check defense and self-healing before speaking.
- Prepare defense, then continue physical attacks. Victory opens the 3 doors beyond; collect the chests before proceeding to the Ark of Water. Defeating the Fierce Beast is not required just to obtain the Ark of Water.
- You cannot return to the House of Darkness after clearing it. If fighting the beast, finish before taking the Ark of Water.
Darkness: prepare instant-death protection first
- Make a normal save before entering the back of the falls and restore the protagonist's and healer's HP/MP.
- Use Death Guard against Death Flare. Do not assume armor Guard alone also prevents instant death.
- Maintain defense and healing while concentrating physical attacks, then defeat it and receive the Ark of Darkness. The crystal deep in the temple is its next target.
Final-world minibosses: check shortcuts and supplies first
- After Iron Claw, check HP/MP before choosing among the 4 passages.
- Press the switch along the way to shorten the return route. Do not keep searching only inside the final world for normal saving or full recovery.
- After Nagarasha, head to the final Evil Heart. If healing spells/items are exhausted, take the opened return route back to resupply.
Evil Heart: magic defense, accuracy, power and group healing
- Meisha is a healer candidate. Heal High restores 180 HP to everyone for 20 MP; Full Heal restores everyone fully for 40 MP. Choose according to remaining MP.
- Early on, prepare against magic with Mirror or a Magic Mirror, and consider Wood in the healer's armor for sleep/petrification protection.
- Use Speed when attacks miss and Power when they hit without enough damage. Bottles can supplement the same purposes.
- Assign the protagonist and 1 other member to physical attacks, prioritizing the healer after group damage. Restore petrified characters with Cure or similar means before returning them to their roles.
- Reapply magic protection when it expires. Do not repeat only attack commands before establishing defense; depleting the enemy's MP before attacking is also an approach.
- Required levels, minimum turns and strongest rankings for every party are unverified. Fixed Magic Mirror duration and complete instant-death/petrification immunity rates are not provided.
