ABOUT

What is Meccha Chameleon?

Paint your body and match backgrounds or objects to hide in online matches. Choose a place and pose; Hunters find players before time expires. Available on PC and Nintendo Switch 2, with room settings and mod-map support requiring separate checks.

ℹ️ Information organized from reference material Steam store page →

Based on official announcements and public references. PC bindings are examples: follow current on-screen prompts. No gameplay testing or complete map-layout inspection has been performed. Map names here are translated reference labels; their exact English in-game UI wording has not been independently confirmed.

Before your first match

Align the host platform, game updates, room mode and map. For mixed PC/Switch 2 rooms, enable cross-play and verify joining on an official map first.

  1. Choose a host; check player limit and visibility.
  2. Set a password for a private group and give participants the join code.
  3. Joiners check code, required password and cross-play settings.
  4. In the lobby, check mode, map, ammunition and phase timers.
  5. Try movement, painting and poses before starting.

Change actions between preparation, search and reveal

In standard rules, Hunters win by finding everyone before time expires; one remaining hider gives the hiding team victory. Room settings such as ammunition limits add other conditions.

PhaseHidersHunters
PreparationChoose position and pose; paint exposed surfacesCheck lobby settings and assignments
SearchWatch time and whether movement breaks the outlineCheck ammunition and remaining players; divide areas
RevealInspect camouflage weaknesses from another angleAdd missed heights and rear surfaces to the next patrol

An announced reveal-color change uses red for unfound players and blue for found ones. Check the actual result rather than inferring victory from color alone.

Keep mode rules separate

Check the selected mode. Standard team victory conditions do not automatically apply to point scoring or rules where everyone plays both roles.

Separate platform support from hardware requirements

Steam supports Windows; the console edition is Switch 2, released in Japan on September 10, 2026. Switch 2 online matches also require internet and an active paid Nintendo Switch Online membership.

FAQ

Meccha Chameleon FAQ

Q1 How many players can join? ▼
A

Official guidance recommends roughly 2–10 players. A guide's PC maximum of 24 is separate from that recommendation; version 4.1.1 temporarily capped Switch 2-hosted rooms at 10. Check the room's displayed limit.

Q2 Nintendo Switch or Switch 2? ▼
A

The checked console edition is Nintendo Switch 2, separate from the original Switch. Standard maps support cross-play with PC.

Q3 Can I install it directly on Mac or a phone? ▼
A

The checked Steam listing supports Windows. Native Mac or phone versions were not listed; distinguish cloud delivery from native support.

Q4 Can I practice alone? ▼
A

A solo room can help with movement, painting and map inspection, but does not guarantee CPU opponents or solo matches. Gather participants for competitive play.
