MECCHA CHAMELEON / GUIDE

MECCHA CHAMELEON controls — painting, poses and PC keys

Source updated 2026-10-12

A key can behave differently while moving, painting or hunting. Check whether F opened painting before using eyedropper and brush controls. These are reference PC bindings: follow on-screen guidance.

Based on official announcements and public references. PC bindings are examples: follow current on-screen prompts. No gameplay testing or complete map-layout inspection has been performed. Map names here are translated reference labels; their exact English in-game UI wording has not been independently confirmed.

Learn movement and poses first

Practice movement, jumping and detaching near the ground. Searching for controls after climbing can waste preparation time.

Separate color sampling, painting and rotation

Hold Space for the 3D eyedropper while painting. The old palette eyedropper button was removed in 3.2.0: do not keep searching for an old video's button position.

Check Hunter, camera and voice inputs by context

Reference Hunter bindings use left-click to fire and right-click to switch FPS/TPS. Check room ammunition settings before firing.

Version 4.1.1 changed incoming voice to muted by default. If you cannot hear others, inspect reception as well as microphone input.

Check clone destruction risk before placing more

Place up to 2 clones separately from your body. A destroyed clone also eliminates the original, so an obvious decoy is not automatically safe.

  1. Reference PC bindings use Q to place and X to remove all placed clones. Check current on-screen assignments first.
  2. Inspect clones for visible white surfaces and unnatural outlines too.
  3. If a clone's position attracts attacks, consider a different placement before adding it.

Q/X and bulk-removal bindings were checked in guides; actual input testing was not performed.

Do not assume gamepad and Switch 2 layouts match

Non-UI gamepad support was added in 3.1.0. Painting speed, zoom, settings and spectator controls were subsequently adjusted. July's initial limitations do not establish total lack of support now.

Completing every PC menu with only a gamepad remains untested. Keep mouse/keyboard available for UI blocks; on Switch 2, follow the console's button prompts.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Q1 Why will Space not sample color? ▼
A

Check painting mode first. In ordinary view, Space can jump; context changes its function. The 3D eyedropper requires holding it while painting.

Q2 Does V change voice or shadows? ▼
A

Its role differs by view: shadows while painting and voice-chat toggle in ordinary play. Check the current screen's prompt.

Q3 Does the original survive a destroyed clone? ▼
A

The official clone announcement says destroying a clone also destroys the original. Consider that risk before placing a conspicuous decoy.
