MECCHA CHAMELEON / GUIDE

MECCHA CHAMELEON rooms — codes, player counts and cross-play

Source updated 2026-10-12

The code locates a room; the password restricts entry. Share them as separate pieces of information for a private group. Cross-platform groups also check cross-play and map support.

Based on official announcements and public references. PC bindings are examples: follow current on-screen prompts. No gameplay testing or complete map-layout inspection has been performed. Map names here are translated reference labels; their exact English in-game UI wording has not been independently confirmed.

Host: create the room, then share its code

Public rooms admit strangers. For a private group, set a password during creation and choose the player cap and intended audience.

  1. Select server creation; set the name, player cap and optional password.
  2. Choose a region tag and matching room tags, up to 5.
  3. For mixed platforms, enable cross-play and choose an official map.
  4. In the lobby, check the 5-character alphanumeric join code.
  5. Give participants the code and required password separately; review settings once everyone joins.

Joiner: use the code, not just name search

Code search arrived in 4.1.0. Old instructions that only say to enter a room name do not cover the newer method.

  1. Receive the current code from the host.
  2. Enter it in server search and check any required password.
  3. Enable cross-play search for mixed PC/Switch 2 groups.
  4. Check platform, map, count and mode, then enter the lobby.

Knowing a code does not remove a password requirement. Follow the authentication actually displayed.

Separate maximum capacity from recommended counts

Network and host performance matter: filling every slot does not guarantee smooth play. Check paint synchronization as well as the displayed count.

Review room settings before starting

Settings may differ each match. With new players, check mode, timers, ammunition and special sizes first.

Start connection troubleshooting with small checks

Public search can hide in-progress rooms by default. Failure to find a room alone does not prove a fault: check whether the host is waiting and filters match.

  1. Confirm the host still has the room open and that the code/password are current.
  2. Check updates and platform cross-play conditions on both sides.
  3. Check region tags, cross-play and in-progress visibility filters.
  4. For a modded room, test joining an official-map room first.
  5. If an update is missing, restart the game and Steam, then check its version.

This guide does not recommend disabling the entire firewall or running unknown repair tools.

When voice is silent or participants need managing

Version 4.1.1 added voice-disable settings and an input-detection icon; incoming voice is muted by default. Check transmission and reception separately.

The host can ban participants, but the list resets when the server restarts. This differs from a permanent account suspension.

  1. Check whether voice is disabled and inspect outgoing/incoming mute settings separately.
  2. Check the actual input device and on-screen voice activity.
  3. Manage disruptive participants from the host screen; reconsider passwords and room access if needed.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Q1 Are join codes and passwords the same? ▼
A

No. The 5-character code locates the room; a password-protected room also requires its authentication.

Q2 Can PC and Switch 2 play together? ▼
A

Cross-play is announced for standard official maps. Check both sides' settings. Mod-map cross-play was a plan for later in the year, not confirmed implemented here.

Q3 Do bans survive closing the server? ▼
A

The 3.8.0 announcement says the ban list resets at server restart. It is not a permanent account-wide suspension.
