Legend of Mana (PlayStation)

Artifacts and five facilities: unlocking and using them

Check the lands created by all 26 artifacts and the steps for unlocking the smithy, instrument workshop, corral, orchard and golem workshop.

Scope: Primarily the Japanese PlayStation version. HD-version convenience features are listed separately; no hands-on play verification has been performed. / Content checked: October 2, 2026

Before placing an artifact

  1. Use the table below to check which land your artifact creates. Add lands containing the people you need first.
  2. You cannot move placed lands within the same playthrough. Check terrain restrictions on the placement screen, including artifacts that require a coastal location.
  3. Do not confuse Mana levels required for events with land conditions affecting enemies and shop strength.
  • No competing site's placement diagrams or placement procedures are reproduced. No map layout is specified as guaranteeing completion of every event.

Unlock facilities through their prerequisite events

Simply entering the shed does not unlock every facility. Finish each relevant event before returning Home.

Back to contents ↑

Monster Corral

  1. Hear Duelle's explanation on Domina's outskirts. Use food to catch a hatchling and have it delivered Home.
  2. Finish the explanation of raising pets at the corral. Eggs do not hatch immediately, so advance the days on the world map before returning.

Orchard

  1. After meeting Gaeus on Luon Highway, go southwest of Home. Defeat the enemies in the field and speak to Trent.
  2. Give him seeds and wait for the fruit to ripen. Harvest the fruit and place it in the wooden box to complete the event.

Making weapons and armor

  1. Advance The Blacksmith is Closed and Watts' Hammer in Ulkan Mines. Finish the hammer task and return home.
  2. Hear Watts' explanation in the crafting shed northwest of your home. Go through the instruction topics to make forging and tempering available.

Making instruments

  1. After finishing A Wish Upon a Star, visit the crafting shed at Home. Help with the student's practical lesson.
  2. Practice calling spirits with an instrument and receive a coin. Finish the instructional conversation before using instrument-making in the shed.

Making golems

  1. Begin Professor Bomb's Lab in the Junkyard and complete the task involving the runaway golem. After returning home, visit the crafting shed.
  2. Read Professor Bomb's explanation and encyclopedia, then answer the questions. Do not reuse English-version choice letters as Japanese-version button instructions.

Distinguish forging from tempering

  1. To make a new weapon or piece of armor, select its type and primary material. Metal, wood and other primary materials form its base.
  2. To temper existing weapons or armor, use secondary materials. Do not simply select the forging primary material as the tempering ingredient.
  3. Tempering changes stats and card states. Save before experimenting and review the equipment's condition afterward.
  • Final attack values and strongest-item recipes are not included because material properties and full procedures still require cross-checking.

Spirit coins for instruments

The instrument-workshop unlocking lesson teaches how to call spirits and receive coins.

  1. Play an instrument where spirits appear and wait for a spirit to approach.
  2. Speak to it when it enters the performance area and receive a coin.
  3. In the workshop, select the instrument material and a spirit coin. The magic's element is related to the coin used.

Different uses for seeds, fruit and pets

  1. Give seeds to Trent to grow them. Harvest ripe fruit so that it can be used.
  2. Use fruit for catching eggs and feeding pets. Check the food and current condition of the pet you want to develop.
  3. When taking pets on adventures to raise them, also check crystal collection and Synchro.
  • All fruit-combination probabilities, every pet's growth rates and a complete table of creatures hatched from eggs fall outside this article's scope.
