Capture connects combat with replenishing equipment

When you want an enemy's weapons, consider capturing them before defeating them with a normal attack. Check whether Capture is available, then take the weapons and items you need with Trade after capturing. Holding a captive reduces your ally's combat ability, so do not leave them in front of numerous enemies.

Trying to capture every enemy leaves you short of both actions and inventory space. Start with weapons and Vulneraries you need, and keep an ally behind to collect them. Some recruitment-related enemies are exceptions, so do not develop a habit of always releasing a captive once you take their equipment.

Have Leif escape last

On escape maps, do not let Leif leave first. His escape ends the chapter, and allies left behind become prisoners. In these situations, you need to plan the order of moving allies to the exit more than wiping out every enemy.

A recommended approach is to count everyone once you are near the exit, then evacuate trailing and slow-moving allies first. If anyone is carrying an ally, do not count only the pieces visible on the map. Keep Leif waiting somewhere safe while others still need to withdraw.

Avoid advancing too far at once in darkness

Fog-of-war maps contain enemies you cannot see. Movement stops if you run into one beyond your vision, so moving straight to the edge of your movement range is dangerous. Use a Torch and check the next destination before advancing your army.

Keep allies available to defeat enemies revealed by the leader and to protect the wounded, so you can respond to trouble. Carry alternatives such as Vulneraries instead of relying solely on a movement star triggering or healing succeeding. In particular, avoid positions where only one successful staff heal can save an ally.

Check strength and fatigue during preparations

From Chapter 8, battle preparations become available, and fatigue can prevent some allies from deploying. Giving reserves combat and supply-collection tasks instead of assigning everything to the same main fighters makes roster changes easier.

Before chapters where you want to deploy a recruiter or healer, check their condition in preparations. Resting and S Drinks can address fatigue, but you may be caught short if you do not have them when needed. Build a habit of checking actual deployment availability and inventories together, rather than relying only on calculations.

Secure personal weapons and access to the early side chapter

In Chapter 1, have Osian receive Pugi and Halvan receive the Brave Axe. In Chapter 2, visit Ronan's house and the Speed Ring house, and protect every house to reach the side chapter. There, clearing the map while keeping Lifis captured leads to his recruitment.

The chapter article follows this order to explain preparations and checks. The original game's suspend data is deleted when resumed, so do not confuse it with an ordinary save. Keeping chapter-clear saves also helps you investigate why you missed a side chapter.

Checks before moving on

  • Check recruitment conditions and inventories before releasing captured enemies
  • Secure vision before advancing in fog of war
  • Let Leif leave last on escape maps

Should I go to Chapter 2x?

It is recommended if you want early allies and supplies. Clear Chapter 2 without any houses being destroyed, then check that Lifis remains captured.

Can I release Lifis after taking his equipment?

Do not release him if you want to recruit him in Chapter 2x. You must seize while he remains captured.
