First identify an input, entrance or missing-collectible problem

FEZ is an exploration puzzle where 90-degree rotations change platform connections. When rotation does not solve something, distinguish keys, door requirements and clues found elsewhere.

  1. If a platform is far away, try one rotation left and one right from stable ground, checking whether the landing platform connects on screen
  2. If a door does not respond, identify a keyhole, Cube display or ordinary entrance
  3. For previously visited places, open the map and distinguish unexplored branches from missed pickups

Not every inaccessible place is solved by rotation alone.

Keep notes for return visits

Remembering only left and right on the map can become confusing after rotation. Record these four details together to find the same door again.

RecordExampleUse on return
Area and landmarkA sea-surrounded junction, lighthouse or windmillAvoid confusing different locations called a hub
Door usedKeyhole or ordinary door; on a rock or at ground levelRecognize the entrance despite a different viewpoint
Incomplete markerChest, small fragment or question markInvestigate collection separately from puzzles
What you tried thereRotation, carrying an object or waiting without changing the clockAvoid repeating the same failed attempt

This note-taking method is an editorial suggestion. Walkthrough sources use their own region names, so this article also describes the scenery.

Edition and verification scope

Published PC update notes include fixes to rotation input recognition, waterfall code recognition and block physics. If objects move slightly differently from an old video, do not make reproducing an old bug your goal.

  1. Prioritize your own control settings
  2. Separate normal progression from full collectible completion
  3. Read this as a comparison of official information and several guides, not an actual-play record

The walkthrough covers major areas and routes toward the normal ending; the collectibles guide covers confirmed representative mysteries. Neither lists every individual collectible location.

FAQ

FEZ FAQ

Q1 Why does rotation not open a door? ▼
A

Entrances differ: some need keys, collection totals or another mechanism. Identify its appearance first, then open the relevant walkthrough answer.

Q2 Can I travel anywhere by selecting a map room? ▼
A

The map shows locations and unfinished tasks. Travel uses doors and warps; selecting a room does not itself teleport you anywhere.

Q3 Must I solve every mystery on the first visit? ▼
A

No. Some require clues found elsewhere. Record your location and unresolved symbols to revisit later.
