BREATH OF FIRE III / PS・PSP
Basic systems
Breath of Fire III (PlayStation / PSP): Basic systems. Mikiri, Skill Ink, Master growth modifiers and gene transformations.
Four core systems
Mikiri
Using "Miru" (look) on an enemy in battle may let you learn certain actions. Whether an action can be learned depends on the skill.
Skill Ink
Consumed when transferring a skill to another character in the camp notebook.
Master
Apprenticeship modifies growth on subsequent level-ups. After gaining the required number of levels, speak to the Master to receive skills, formations or items.
Dragon transformation
Combine up to three genes. Transformations consume AP, so choose a combination based on elements and remaining AP.
Notable special dragon forms
| Form | Genes | Characteristics |
|---|---|---|
| Trygon | Flame + Ice + Thunder | Three elemental breaths and elemental nullification |
| Warrior Second | Power + Trance | High attack power and multiple elemental attacks |
| Quicksilver | Wonder + Sharp + Reverse | Sacrifices HP to raise attack, defence and agility |
| Tiamat | Dark + Trance | Uses Genocide Breath; allies leave the battle |
| Kaiser Dragon | Trance + Light + Anfini | The fully controllable form. AP consumption is very high |
Transforming consumes the genes' AP cost. From turn 2 onward, half that amount is consumed each turn. Equipment-based elemental resistance and absorption do not apply while transformed.
