Backpack Battles / Patch 1.1.9
Backpack Battles: Comparing the Seven Classes and Their Decisions
Without continuous official win-rate data across all ranks, we do not assign definitive S–D ranks. We compare what each class collects and how it places items using the same criteria.
Choose a class by the decisions you want to practice
This table compares the resources and decisions handled each round; it does not rank measured class strength. Once you choose a decision style, use the corresponding build example to check purchases and placement.
| Classes | Reason to choose | Main decision | Demand to watch | Purchasing mistake to avoid |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ranger Ranger | Develop a small set of main weapons | Connect Luck and critical-hit support to weapons inside Ranger Bag | Check stamina before raising attack speed | Buying more weapons until each purchase creates a resource shortage |
| Reaper Reaper | Survive long enough for poison to work | Put activating items in Storage Coffin and combine poison with defense | Identify why you are being defeated in short fights | Adding only poison while postponing armor and healing |
| Berserker Berserker | Follow Rage and equipment crafting | Choose weapons that work during Battle Rage and an armor upgrade path | Keep enough fighting strength before crafting and space for the finished item | Filling the bag only with ingredients for large weapons |
| Pyromancer Pyromancer | Collect Flame and develop fire equipment | Decide which items Fire Pit affects and which Flame recipe you are pursuing | Separate Flame spent on offense from space needed for survival | Saving Flame without completing a main damage source |
| Mage Mage | Balance Mana supply and consumption | Pair suppliers such as Mana Orb with a main item that uses Mana | Maintain defenses until the required resources are available | Buying several Mana-consuming weapons before their supply is ready |
| Adventurer Adventurer | Choose a direction from the items offered | First complete a physical or defensive combination that works now | Decide which obsolete ingredients to sell when changing direction | Reserving every item that might be useful someday |
| Engineer Engineer | Build a Charge path | Check the paths from Battery or Generator and the receiving items beneath them | Track how paths and additional effects differ between generators | Buying a generator but placing it where Charge cannot reach a receiver |
If unsure, keep playing the same class and distinguish placement mistakes, resource exhaustion and insufficient survival time one by one. Do not assume a class change alone fixes the problem; return to the example’s checks.
Comparison criteria
- How easily you can identify a win condition
- Complexity of placement requirements
- Clarity of unique resource supply and consumption
- Ease of changing direction according to shop offers
Why we do not fix a ranking
- Balance changes alter item values and the meta.
- Starting bags and subclasses can substantially change builds within the same class.
- Do not assert usage or win rates without official data spanning ranks.
