Backpack Battles / Patch 1.1.9

Backpack Battles Classes: How the Seven Classes Work

Classes differ through starting bags, exclusive items and subclass options, not just initial stats. Choose by the resources and placement rules you enjoy handling rather than a fixed ranking.

🔄 Last checked 2026-10-13 🏷️ Version PC version 1.1.9 🎮 PC (Steam)

✍️ The latest official announcement checked is PC 1.1.9. Build examples and selection criteria are editorial examples based on published mechanics. Gameplay, the current UI and win rates have not been tested.

The current seven classes

Ranger

Ranger Luck and critical hits

Core: Connect Luck to the weapons affected by Ranger Bag

Check: Avoid too many weapons; maintain accuracy, stamina and survivability too

Reaper

Reaper Poison and debuffs

Core: Use different rapidly activating items inside Storage Coffin

Check: Provide enough defense to survive until damage over time matters

Berserker

Berserker Battle Rage

Core: Build around weapons and armor that improve during Battle Rage

Check: Keep stamina sustainable both normally and during Rage

Pyromancer

Pyromancer Flame・Heat

Core: Generate Flame with the unique bag and pursue fire-related recipes

Check: Create an outlet that converts Flame into damage or survival instead of merely stockpiling it

Mage

Mage Mana and magic

Core: Watch how the starting bag changes over time and balance Mana supply with consumption

Check: For a long-fight build, prioritize defense that keeps you alive until acceleration takes effect

Adventurer

Adventurer Flexible combinations

Core: Choose your main direction early from the shop’s options

Check: Do not hoard unrelated items simply because you have many choices

Engineer

Engineer Charge・Battery

Core: Route Charge from sources such as Battery to important items

Check: After placement, recheck the Charge path, destination and receiver’s additional effects

Choosing as a beginner

  • Ranger makes the Luck/critical-hit relationship easy to follow; Reaper does the same for Poison and debuffs.
  • Pyromancer teaches placement using Flame, while Engineer uses Charge as its unique resource.
  • Do not learn every class at once. Play several runs with one class to understand its exclusive items.

Thinking about subclasses

  • Each class has five subclass options, and the exclusive item you choose significantly changes the build.
  • Before choosing, check your main items, available resources and free slots.
  • Prioritize an option that completes your current direction over a powerful item that does not work in the existing bag.
