Separate each run from House preparations
- Check conversations and gifts in the House, then choose Mirror talents, a weapon Aspect and a Keepsake before leaving.
- Assign roles to Attack, Special, Cast, Dash and Call during the run. Upgrade your main damage source first.
- At the stairway after a boss, check healing, items that replenish revives and Keepsake changes. Unlock the exchange cabinet through the House Contractor's Keepsake Collection, Regional order.
- After dying or escaping, use retained Keys, Darkness and other resources for your next preparations. Boons, Obols and Hammer upgrades from the run do not carry over.

| Unconfirmed | Complete enemy statistics, every mutually exclusive Hammer combination, current platform version numbers and conversation probabilities are withheld. |
Prepare for your first escape
- Buy 1 rank of Greater Reflex in the Mirror to dash consecutively. The extra dash costs 50 Darkness.
- Secure 1 Death Defiance charge first. Its ranks cost 30→500→1000, so you need not spend all your resources on 3 charges immediately.
- Give 1 Nectar to receive a Keepsake. Cerberus's collar provides maximum Life; Skelly's tooth provides an extra revive.
- Test your weapon's Attack and Special on Skelly. Unlocking a new weapon with Keys does not stop you returning to one that suits you.
