Choose difficulty separately from whether fallen allies return

In addition to Normal, Hard, Maniac, and Lunatic difficulties, you choose Classic or Casual. Fallen allies return in the next chapter in Casual, but watch for the defeat of Marth or your avatar. Lunatic′ is an additional difficulty unlocked through completion requirements and is not included in an ordinary first-playthrough guide.

Decide your avatar's role

You can set your avatar's name, sex, appearance, starting class, and background. Their strengths change with class and growth, so using the combat forecast to assign a role is more reliable than a fixed claim such as “always defeats this enemy in one hit.” Consider front-line and rear attacking roles separately.

Moving from the prologue to Chapter 1

The prologue has eight maps, with opponents and temporary allies changing according to choices along the way. Your roster changes in main-story Chapter 1, so you cannot necessarily keep using everyone from the prologue. The walkthrough starts with Chapter 1 preparations and covers Marisha, the Bullion, and the Mend staff.
