DRG Survivor Tips: Classes, Gear, Mining and Overclocks
Eleven early base-game tips covering Classic Scout, weapon levels, Gold and Nitra, six Gear categories, terrain and missions, Supply Pods and extraction.

⛏️ Classes and the early game
Develop the starting Classic Scout
In a first Classic Scout run, give Deepcore GK2 one clear target: weapon level 6. Prioritize recovery or movement over the breakpoint when survival requires it.
Separate weapon levels from ranks
Regular additional weapon slots use dwarf levels 5/15/25; overclocks use individual weapon levels 6/12/18. Distinguish shared-tag cards from weapon-specific cards.
Spend Gold and Nitra on relevant improvements
Separate Gold and Nitra uses. Compare weapon-specific upgrades paid with Nitra against general improvements, healing and rerolls paid with Gold, keeping enough for the next useful purchase.
🛡️ Selecting Gear
Do not infer a class-set bonus
Read the triggers actually written on the Gear’s stats and quirks. Collecting several pieces that appear suited to one class does not establish a set bonus. Six Gear categories are separate from four weapon slots.
Compare purpose as well as Legendary rarity
After returning, check Gear and milestones. Separate useful pieces from duplicates rather than selling everything solely because it is lower rarity.
Read Chips as Bosco equipment
Chips affect Bosco’s weapons and utility such as collection. They do not all share a critical or retaliation bonus. Compare carried-weapon tags separately from Bosco’s description.
🗺️ Exploration and missions
Mine toward an exit
Before mining a vein, check whether there is open ground beyond it. If a short escape tunnel is not possible, restore distance instead of forcing the dig.
Prepare separately for each Anomaly
Read the optional mode’s rules and identify changes to movement, health or experience. Two or three Legendary pieces are not a universal entry requirement; check Mastery and the displayed unlock condition.
Separate biome terrain from mutators
Conditions can change with the selected mission’s Hazard, sector and mutators even in the same biome. Adjust routes to Magma lava, Hollow Bough vines, Salt Pits falling hazards or Azure Weald bounce landings.
🔫 Weapons and combat
Distinguish Supply Pods from Drop Pods
Clear all terrain within a Supply Pod’s radius, including ore and crystals. Resources without a pickaxe overlay must also be removed from the landing area.
The Drop Pod is extraction; the Supply Pod offers an artifact. Once extraction appears, read its direction and remaining time, prioritizing arrival over optional ore.
The old advice to call multiplayer-DRG ammunition resupplies with Nitra or resupply at half ammo is not applied here. Compare reload gaps through weapon stats and positioning.
Balance main-weapon breakpoints with survival
Read artifact triggers and drawbacks. For Turbo Encabulator, consider Mining Speed as well as overclock count; for MoCap, compare the missing-health condition against survival.
Address one failure cause on the next attempt: routes when surrounded during mining, weapon level and applicable tags when the objective survives, or countdown awareness when extraction fails.
FAQ
Which class is available first?
Classic Scout is available from the start and begins with Deepcore GK2. Gunner unlocks at Player Rank 3, Engineer at 5 and Driller at 7. Do not assume Heavy Gunner is available immediately.
Do overclocks need a separate unlock run?
The old permanent unlock requirement at weapon level 12 was already obsolete in official 1.0 documentation. During a dive, reach individual weapon levels 6, 12 and 18.
Are Gear, artifacts and weapons the same system?
Gear is persistent equipment selected between dives. Artifacts are run-specific upgrades obtained through Supply Pods and similar rewards. Weapons begin with the Class MOD’s starting weapon, followed by additional dwarf-level slots.
Are Anomaly clears required for regular progression?
Anomalies are optional modes with altered rules. Distinguish them from the regular mission roadmap and Masteries, then read the displayed unlock and rules. A full Legendary loadout is not established as an entry requirement.
What about Japanese, price and platforms?
The Steam PC version supports Japanese. This guide covers the PC base game; other platforms’ controls, extra content and current pricing are not verified here. Check the official store before purchase.
Is this a verified best build or complete guide?
Controlled comparisons across every MOD, Hazard and equipment variant, and runtime clears, have not been performed. Names and requirements are source-checked; recommendations are editorial decisions with reasons.
