DRG Survivor Biomes: Five Base-Game Environments, Missions and Boss Decisions

The five base-game environments from Crystalline Caverns to Azure Weald, terrain decisions, mission roadmaps, mutators, Dreadnoughts and Anomaly scope.

Checked: 17 October 2026

Crystalline Caverns

A base-game environment for learning mining and combat. Do not treat every purple rock or crystal as the same resource or explosive. Check the space beyond a wall before digging.

With Classic Scout, let GK2 fire while you move. With Gunner, route the crowd into Lead Storm’s forward lane. A fixed zero-percent enemy multiplier or a measured claim that Hazard 4 is the best farm is unverified.

  1. Choose an available low-Hazard Elimination and read its objective.
  2. Check levels remaining to the main weapon’s next overclock and a mining route to the Supply Pod.
  3. As the objective approaches completion, prioritize a position that can reach the Drop Pod over deeper ore.

Magma Core

Lava and explosive plants affect routes. Official Patch 1.0.87p fixes first-stage plant Damage and enemies ignoring lava, so terrain is more than background scenery.

Avoid routes that put you on an explosion. Do not infer that digging removes every floor hazard or that equipping Cold grants Fire resistance. Preserve both a route for drawing enemies and a usable firing direction.

  1. Read dangerous ground and plants, then choose an outer route to the deposit.
  2. Leave room around the enemy pack and plants; fixed explosion radius and Damage are unchecked.
  3. Check in advance whether the boss or extraction will require returning along the same route.

Hollow Bough

An environment with regenerating and red vines. Official updates record changes to regenerating-vine health, red-vine length and vine-mining objectives. A mined path is not assumed to remain open.

Recheck the return route, and stand near an exit when using deployable weapons. The old claim that only Driller permanently removes vines and a fixed darkness visibility reduction are unchecked.

  1. Distinguish regrowing terrain from ordinary rock and keep tunnels short.
  2. For a vine-mining objective, read the current required count and progress.
  3. At extraction, check whether the old path is usable; choose another short route if needed.

Salt Pits

The official 1.0 retrospective names dense brittle rock, falling crystals and Q’ronar Shellbacks. Salt Pits was added during Early Access; it is not treated as new on the 1.0 launch day.

Read falling hazards and rolling enemy routes, then create a position with a short mining escape. Red Sugar being halved or a permanent fifteen-percent health/attack increase is not established as a biome-wide rule.

  1. Choose an exit before entering dense rock.
  2. Avoid lingering in the path of crystals or rolling enemies.
  3. Reduce detours during the Drop Pod countdown even when resources remain.

Azure Weald

Official material names healing crystals, bounce membranes and Mini Exploders. A bounce can provide a route across a crowd, but do not keep triggering one without checking the landing area.

Keep a route back to healing and onward after a bounce. A universal twenty-percent enemy increase, thirty-percent Gold penalty or crystals being the only possible healing are unchecked. Use the current mission display.

  1. Note healing positions and create an outer route that can return safely.
  2. Check the landing point and nearby crowds before bouncing.
  3. Watch approaching Mini Exploders and extraction direction together; do not re-enter a dense crowd just for resources.

Separate biomes from mission mutators

Version 1.0 introduces separate five-sector mission roadmaps for Elimination and Escort Duty, combining Hazards and mutators from Sector 2 onward. The same biome does not guarantee identical mission conditions.

For example, Update 1.1 changes Elimination gate 2 to Mandatory Pep Talk with +10% XP and +100 Max HP, replacing Omega Mini Exploders with Serrated Claws II. Read the selected mission’s rules rather than assigning one permanent mutator to each biome.

Dreadnought and Twins: terrain and health decisions

Official 1.0 material includes the reworked regular Dreadnought and Dreadnought Twins. The old fixed classification of Deepstrain at Crystalline Hazard 5 with one-and-a-half health is unsupported.

Keep distance and room to move against a regular Dreadnought. For the Twins, compare both health bars and adjust targeting because an uneven loss can trigger healing. Do not treat every attack as having the same rear-weakpoint multiplier.

  1. Leave deep dead ends before the fight and preserve room to evade.
  2. Move along a route that gives the main weapon a firing lane while watching enemy movement.
  3. For Twins, change targets according to the health difference; check extraction instructions after the kill.

Check the mission roadmap before opening the five environments

The old fixed chart paying 2/4/6/8 Biome Points is not used as current evidence. Version 1.0 progression completes mission goals, opens a gate and advances to another sector. Five environments and five sectors are separate counts.

Classes and environments: route decisions

This table gives editorial checks based on terrain and attack direction, rather than measured matchup ratings. A biome name alone does not establish one best class.

Anomaly Dives: optional altered rules

Anomalies were introduced in Early Access Update 03 rather than first appearing in 1.0. These are examples from the introduction, not a list of every current value and unlock. Check Mastery progression and the current selection screen.

FAQ

Where should I start?

Practise movement, mining, Supply Pods and extraction in an available low-Hazard Crystalline Caverns mission. Fixed BP costs or a required number of farming runs are unchecked.

How can I survive Azure Weald?

Keep a route back to healing crystals and inspect bounce-membrane landing points. Reduce detours near Mini Exploders; a particular best class or Legendary item is not required.

Do I need 2/4/6/8 Biome Points?

Those fixed costs are not supported by the checked material. Use the 1.0 mission roadmap to inspect available missions and required gate objectives.

Are Anomaly clears required for regular progression?

Anomalies are optional modes with altered rules. Distinguish them from the regular mission roadmap and Masteries, then read the displayed unlock and rules. A full Legendary loadout is not established as an entry requirement.
