About this page
Version covered: Japanese Game Boy release from 1998.
Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland was released for Game Boy on September 25, 1998. This page explains early progression: training companions through travel gates, taking on the arena, and preparing your next fighters through breeding.
The basic progression to learn first
- Recruit companions through travel gates and train them for the next arena class
- After clearing arena Class F, hear the explanation of breeding at the Starry Shrine
- Before breeding, check the parents' levels and sexes, and the fighters you will have left afterward
- After clearing Class E, consider arranged breeding with the monster masters in town
Monsters chosen as parents leave your roster when you breed them. Rather than breeding all your current main fighters, keep companions who can continue exploring and gradually replace the monsters you are training.
Available guide
“Preparing for your first breeding, and a Kimera example after Class E” covers the unlock requirement, choosing parents, and an arranged breeding example using Dracky. It also covers the retraining needed immediately after breeding.
