Progression overview: revisit regions as abilities expand

This is not a linear trip through each region once. A typical example is traveling from Zi to Kur, gaining a higher jump, then returning to Zi. Choose your next destination by your most recent movement ability as well as your location.

Wide tables scroll horizontally.

Collection detours can occur in different orders. This table shows broad normal progression, not a record route or the only correct sequence.

Which ability handles each obstacle?

Despite similar names, Axiom Disruptor is a gun, while Address Disruptor changes enemies and terrain. Identify the required effect before repeatedly firing the same weapon at an obstacle.

Wide tables scroll horizontally.

Which ability handles each obstacle?: 12 entries
AbilityApproximate acquisition areaProblem it handles
Laser DrillEribu, after XedurDrillable rocks and blocks. Try it on floors or walls that gunfire cannot break
Address DisruptorAbsu, after TelalChanges susceptible glitch terrain and enemies; useful for creating platforms or altering enemy behavior
Field DisruptorFirst exploration of KurInsufficient jump height. Return to Zi's high areas afterward
Modified Lab CoatZi, after UrukuPasses through thin walls while touching them, using repeated directional input toward the wall
Remote DroneReturn to KurNarrow passages Trace cannot enter. Send the drone to distant switches or collectibles
Address Disruptor 2Return to KurTargets unaffected by the initial Disruptor; an upgrade to the original ability
GrappleExploring Kur after Gir-TabCross wide gaps or reach upper areas by grappling onto ceilings and rocks
Enhanced Drone LaunchUpper KurInsufficient drone launch distance
TrenchcoatUkkin-NaShort-range teleportation, including upward and downward directions
Address BombEdinChanges stronger glitch obstacles or multiple enemies together, consuming dedicated ammunition
Drone TeleportEdin, after UkhuMoves Trace to the position of an already launched drone
Sudran Key/Red CoatE-Kur-MahLocked doors, and attacks on breakable blocks or enemies along the movement path

The initial Address Disruptor cannot remove every noisy effect. You may leave obstacles requiring upgrades or Address Bomb for later.

Early obstacles: use Nova, Drill and Disruptor in turn

Passages immediately after new equipment often teach its use. Do not call every strange visual a glitch: distinguish switches, rocks and changeable terrain.

  1. In Eribu, first get Axiom Disruptor from the room on the left. Break the red blocks with the gun and proceed right
  2. After getting Nova, split its projectile to hit red switches outside a straight firing line. Press fire again after launching to adjust where it splits
  3. After Xedur, collect Laser Drill from the room to the right. Drill through the floor to continue rather than turning back after the boss alone
  4. After getting Kilver in Absu, use its short-range electricity on switches beyond barriers. Check its reach if distant shots do not connect
  5. After Telal, keep Address Disruptor aimed at terrain until the change completes. Do not stop while the blue reaction is still developing

The detailed opening and practice through the first two bosses are in the beginner guide.

Between Zi and Kur: from jump upgrade to drone

You cannot climb all of Zi on first arrival. Get Field Disruptor in Kur, return, and gain wall passage beyond Uruku to explore deeper into Kur.

  1. On your first Zi visit, follow the available eastern route into Kur. Return to Zi after collecting Field Disruptor
  2. After defeating Uruku, create platforms with Address Disruptor and take the upper-right exit. Collect Modified Lab Coat ahead and practice passing through thin walls
  3. Return to Kur and explore beyond formerly impassable thin walls to obtain Remote Drone
  4. Send the drone through narrow passages and shoot barrier switches. Return to Trace, follow the open route and collect Address Disruptor 2
  5. Consider collecting Hypo-Atomizer before Gir-Tab. Even if its projectile stops before reaching an enemy, test whether its secondary shots continue farther

Guides differ on when to collect weapons such as Hypo-Atomizer. The important ability chain is Field Disruptor, wall passage in Zi, then the drone in Kur.

After Grapple: upgrade teleportation in Ukkin-Na and Edin

Having the drone does not initially let Trace teleport to it. Grapple, increased launch distance, Trenchcoat and Drone Teleport are separate pickups.

  1. After Gir-Tab in Kur, send the drone into a high passage to collect Grapple. If a fall prevents returning to the previous ledge, look for uses of the new ability nearby
  2. Get Enhanced Drone Launch in upper Kur. Practice landing the launched drone on high platforms and operating switches
  3. Return west through Ukkin-Na. A story event changes how the terrain appears; inspect changed rooms again to find Trenchcoat
  4. Use Trenchcoat to cross walls and floors, including vertically, and continue east to Edin
  5. Get Address Bomb in Edin to handle stronger obstacles, then face Ukhu. After winning, send the drone beyond the left side of the boss room to collect Drone Teleport
  6. Use Drone Teleport to move Trace to high platforms and continue through walls with Trenchcoat as needed. Combine abilities where one alone cannot reach

Learn the difference between discarding a drone and transferring Trace to it. Button names vary by platform and bindings; prioritize the pickup's instructions.

Early bosses: watch projectile height and weak-point position

If hits appear to connect without dealing damage, check the weak point first. Locking your position helps aim diagonally without stepping off narrow platforms.

Wide tables scroll horizontally.

Early bosses: watch projectile height and weak-point position: 3 entries
BossTell to watchDodge and counterattack
Xedur(Eribu)Moves back and forth above, firing ordinary projectiles and delayed bombsShift horizontally in small steps. Watch bomb blast areas rather than only the moment they are placed. Aim Axiom Disruptor at soft areas on the face or tail
Telal(Absu)High and low shots from the upper turrets, plus larger lower cannon fireAim at the raised back from the upper platform. Jump low shots, crouch under high ones and return fire with Axiom Disruptor
Uruku(Zi)The central laser part starts attacking; destroying parts changes the situationUse different platform heights to avoid lasers and destroy the attacking parts first. After clearing the upper part, add platforms with Address Disruptor and aim diagonally downward at the weak point

Some bosses attack faster at low health. Avoid rushing the final damage; keep jumps for dodging distinct from jumps for shooting.

Gir-Tab and Ukhu: why firing straight ahead may fail

For these two midgame bosses, weak-point orientation and opening times matter. Besides collecting weapons, create a firing line to the weak point with equipment you already have.

Wide tables scroll horizontally.

Gir-Tab and Ukhu: why firing straight ahead may fail: 3 entries
BossTells and weak pointActions or weapons to try
Gir-Tab(Kur)Weak point at the rear. Low arm-gun positioning signals shots near the groundUse the left side as your base. Crouch when the gun is high and jump its shots when low. Fire Hypo-Atomizer low so secondary shots reach the rear. Create distance from tail flames or lunges
Ukhu(Edin)An open mouth while spitting acid creates an attack opportunity. Being too close risks a thrust attackWait at a distance where you can aim diagonally upward into the mouth; retreat from acid. Use a gun with sufficient reach, such as Axiom Disruptor, and consider Kilver for small reinforcements
An alternative against UkhuIts small spawned enemies can be changed with Address Disruptor or Address BombOne method defeats changed enemies near its mouth. Position and timing matter; a one-hit kill is not assumed for reliable progression

For the Hacker achievement, use Disruptor on Ukhu's small enemies during the fight. These enemies are specific to this encounter, so simply revisiting all regions after killing the boss cannot replace that action.

E-Kur-Mah to Mar-Uru: collect the final ability and continue

After Drone Teleport, return to the very top of Kur. Launching the drone ahead and moving Trace to it opens the formerly unreachable exit toward E-Kur-Mah.

  1. In E-Kur-Mah, drill through the rocky room to find Sudran Key. After collecting it, recheck the locked doors
  2. Collect Red Coat farther inside. It breaks destructible blocks along the teleport path; practice this on the return route
  3. Revisit older regions for health and damage upgrades if needed. Collecting every item is not the same requirement as reaching the final boss
  4. When ready, return to Ukkin-Na and head upward toward Mar-Uru. Check both narrow drone passages and places the Coats can cross

This guide does not require collecting everything by coordinates or advanced shortcuts such as infinite ascent.

Late bosses: attack from outside the central firing line

Red Coat movement also helps with dodging late on. FlameThrower is an option if you have it, but lacking it does not mean you missed a mandatory weapon.

Wide tables scroll horizontally.

Late bosses: attack from outside the central firing line: 3 entries
OpponentTell or targetResponse
SentinelThe central orb is the weak point. Watch laser charging at the center and the orb retractingAim from slightly off-center beneath it. Dodge purple shots through gaps. While the orb is hidden, avoid greedy attacks and focus on dodging with Red Coat
Xedur HulResembles the original Xedur but moves faster, with denser ordinary shots and bombsAn optional fight: you can pass left and continue. If fighting, teleport away and counterattack between bomb-spreading movements
AthetosThe glowing ceiling area is the progression target. Nearby Sentries are replenishedDo not focus only on eliminating Sentries: land attacks on the ceiling. FlameThrower's penetration can help. Weaken Sentry attacks with Address Bomb while dodging and aiming at the main target

Sources differ on Athetos's detailed phases, so destruction counts and final-phase health are not stated as fixed facts.

Revisit priorities: combine abilities to collect upgrades

Searching every region after each new ability makes travel lengthy. Record why each dead end blocked you, then return to regions where your new tools solve that problem.

Wide tables scroll horizontally.

Revisit priorities: combine abilities to collect upgrades: 5 entries
Pickup milestonePlaces to revisitExample
After Modified Lab CoatBeyond thin wallsHealth Node in Uruku's room: change the platforms and pass through the wall
After GrappleCeiling routes and wide gapsPower Node Fragment above Zi's Power Filter room
After TrenchcoatBelow floors and vertical passage pointsReturn for the Power Node Fragment visible along the way in its Ukkin-Na pickup room
After Drone TeleportPlaces previously reachable only by the droneAn area beyond Edin's narrow passages where you switch back to Trace and cross another wall
After Red CoatBreakable blocks beyond wallsPower Node Fragment shortly after obtaining it in E-Kur-Mah. Recheck combinations of rocks and walls in older regions too

Health Nodes increase maximum health; Power Nodes improve damage. Full nodes differ from fragments, so one fragment may not immediately grant a large upgrade. This table helps reduce current obstacles rather than replacing a complete collection route.

One-way routes, achievements and Secret Worlds

Being unable to return to a ledge does not necessarily mean you must restart the save. Normal progression sometimes requires moving forward until you gain another ability. Achievements, however, can require actions that cannot simply be filled in later.

  1. If early Zi falls or Ukkin-Na events prevent returning, look for the current region's exit and new pickups. Consider a temporary one-way stretch of normal progression
  2. For all achievements, remember Disruptor use on Ukhu's small enemies
  3. Abandoned Clone and Xedur Hul have achievements involving avoiding attacks or kills. Shooting every enemy immediately is unsuitable for a first run aiming at all achievements
  4. Secret World entrances vary by save. An empty location at someone else's coordinates does not necessarily indicate a problem
  5. Separate normal item/map 100% from Secret World exploration. Strong scanlines on the screen or health display can hint at an entrance

Randomizer is a separate mode that changes pickups. Do not apply this page's ability order unchanged. Do not import Axiom Verge 2's Arms, Breach travel or fast-travel instructions into the original game either.

FAQ

Axiom Verge FAQ

Q1 Are Address Disruptor and Axiom Disruptor the same? ▼
A

No. Axiom Disruptor is the starting gun; Address Disruptor changes terrain and enemies and is obtained after Telal.

Q2 I reached Zi but cannot reach high platforms ▼
A

On the first visit, continue to Kur, obtain Field Disruptor, then return to Zi. You do not need to explore all of Zi immediately.

Q3 Trace does not move when I launch the drone ▼
A

Remote Drone and Drone Teleport are separate abilities. The upgrade that moves Trace is collected after Ukhu in Edin.

Q4 The white Coat cannot teleport upward or downward ▼
A

Modified Lab Coat is the initial wall-passage ability, used while touching a thin wall. Ukkin-Na's Trenchcoat expands teleportation into other directions.

Q5 Should I get the strongest weapon before fighting bosses? ▼
A

Check weak points and firing lines first. Hypo-Atomizer is an option for Gir-Tab and FlameThrower for late fights, but some bosses can be handled with guns you already have.

Q6 Must I defeat every boss? ▼
A

The original has exceptions: Xedur Hul is optional, with an achievement for proceeding without defeating it. Do not apply Axiom Verge 2's boss rules to the entire original game.

Q7 Do I need Secret Worlds for normal 100%? ▼
A

They are separate from normal map and item completion. Treat them as additional exploration with entrances that change by save.

Q8 Guide room numbers do not match my map ▼
A

Room numbers assigned by guide authors or shown on their images are not necessarily universal game coordinates. Match region names, save rooms, boss rooms and required abilities instead.
